Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Story Pirates podcast listeners.
Lee here. Today we have a very special bonus episode for you featuring another new story that was written by not one, not two, but over a hundred different kids in our Creator Club.
And get this, it's a courtroom drama!
Possibly the weirdest courtroom drama you have ever heard.
And it's coming up right after a few words for the Grown Ups.
Hey Grown Ups, season seven of the Story Pirates podcast is right around the corner and it's time for your kids to send us their own stories.
But maybe they don't know what to write about.
Luckily, Story Pirates is partnering this season with The Week Jr., an incredible magazine that kids can't wait to read.
Every issue of The Week Jr.
has a section called Photos of the Week that is full of photos that are great to tell an imaginative story about.
Grown Ups, as part of our partnership, you can get six free issues of The Week Jr.
for your family delivered right to your mailbox by going to theweekjr .com slash Story Pirates.
And don't forget, the Story Pirates Amazing Adventure Tour continues October 5th and 6th with shows in Connecticut and New Hampshire.
You can find tickets at storypirates .com slash live.
Now, back to the show.
I love Story Pirates.
I've been told it has no reactive imagination.
It makes me feel cozy.
The pen and paper have arrived.
Don't worry about the bad stuff.
Just think about Positive Eyes.
I write most of my stories for fun.
There's so much out there that we'll probably never know.
This is only Pirates.
Okay everybody, here's what's up.
For the third time this year, we invited all of our Creator Club members to join me and Peter on a Zoom to write a story together.
Over a hundred different kids from all over the world showed up and together we wrote a courtroom drama.
You know, a story with a judge and someone who's been accused of a crime and lawyers and surprise witnesses and a breakdancing eyeball.
Yeah, we definitely have a breakdancing eyeball in a Story Pirates version of a courtroom drama.
And today, you are going to hear it brought to life.
And PS Grown Ups, we're doing this whole thing again on Zoom with me and Peter in November and it's not too late to get your kids involved.
We're going to write a brand new story together and then adapt it for the podcast just like in today's episode.
Information on how to join us is in the episode description for today's episode.
So Grown Ups, check it out and join us.
So without further ado, we present to you a story by the Story Pirates Creator Club, the mystery of jewelry toilets.
And now it's time for another installment of Jurassic Justice, the only televised courtroom show where dinosaurs are on trial.
With your firm but fair judge, Judge By, he's a woolly mammoth who keeps his cool when the courtroom gets hairy.
We're coming to you live from the Dino Nugget court where today's proceedings are about to get underway.
All rise, the honorable Judge By is entering the courtroom.
All rise, thank you very much.
That's about now. No, no, really, really, thank you.
Just a reminder, this trial is not about me.
Amazing! All rise, Bayless Prontosaurus, Judge By, have you sworn our journey in for duty today?
I have, your honor.
Excellent. Let's start the proceedings the way we always do.
By checking in with my best friend in the whole world, John, the breakdancing eyeball.
Yeah! We love him! We love him!
Good morning, everyone.
Good morning, Judge By.
It's me, John, the breakdancing I.
I know there should be order in the court, so I'll keep this breakdance moment short.
Here we go. Uh! Uh!
Uh! Uh! And, uh! Oh!
What a move! Wonderful!
That John! What an eyeball!
Bayless Prontosaurus, let's hear the details of today's case.
Judge By, today's case is Albert the Dinosaur versus Banana the Peanut.
Hello, your honor. I'm Albert, and cannot just say that I'm a huge fan of the show and an even huger fan of you.
Please! It's not about me.
Bayless, tell me about the case.
Albert here owns a jewelry store and he says today's defendant stole jewelry from him.
Sounds like this is going to be a tough one.
I can feel it. Let's meet the defendant.
Today's defendant is this here peanut named Banana.
Hello. Hi. Objection.
I'm Banana's lawyer and my client would like to make a statement.
Proceed. Thank you.
I just wanted to say - That my client is innocent, your honor.
I'll be the judge of that.
Oh yes, and he will.
That is one of my catchphrases.
But please remember, this trial is not about me.
Let's start with your opening statements, Albert.
Thank you, Judge By.
In honor of John the Breakdance and Eyeball, you could say this case is open and shut.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you. Anyway, my security cameras recorded video of the jewelry theft from my store.
I looked on the camera and I saw a peanut shape, so it must be Banana the peanut.
These are some strong accusations against this little peanut.
What do you have to say, Banana?
Well, I - Objection, please let my client speak, your honor.
I think I was letting him speak.
I was just going to say that - He's innocent.
Bailiff B., do we have that security video?
We sure do, Judge. Here it is, everybody.
Look at the screen.
Here's the footage, as you can see.
This is Albert's jewelry store after hours.
And here's that peanut shape he was talking about.
That does look a lot like you, Banana.
Wait, stop the thing.
I see something mysterious in that upper right corner.
Bailiff, go back. Enhance that section.
And again, now enlarge 70%.
Do my eyes deceive me?
Or is that a giant break -dancing eyeball?
John, my best friend, did you steal jewelry from Albert's jewelry store?
Order in the court.
Order my face! Thank you, thank you.
Yes, I can breathe fire.
But this trial's not about me, but it would appear that this trial is now about my best friend, John, the break -dancing eyeball!
What do you have to say for yourself?
Judge, it's not me.
That's not a lie. So, I can't provide an alibi.
Just watch these moves, and you'll agree that can't be me up on the screen.
Here we go! Yeah! Order, order, John.
Don't try to distract the courtroom with those incredibly sick moves.
Excuse me, your honor.
Yes, Albert the dinosaur.
I'd like to call to stand the cashier that was working at my store and saw it all happen.
Finally, something that's not related to me.
Proceed! Your honor, we bring to the stand Frederick's the shark zillionaire.
Wait a minute. He's...
my son! Hello, dad!
Everybody, I'd like to remind you that this trial is not about me, but it does appear to be about my son and my best friend.
Perhaps I should recuse myself from this case.
What do you all think, live studio audience?
Absolutely, Mr. Judge!
Oh, well. Proceed. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
Sure! Now, as you well know, I'm the CEO of a solar panel company owned by my dad, Judge Bi.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can skip that part.
But what you might not know is that I moonlight as a cashier at Albert's jewelry store.
You do? Why? It's just how I like to unwind after a long day of CEO -ing.
Huh. Fair enough. Anyway, I was just closing up for the night and I saw two people, a peanut and a breakdancing eyeball, walking through the store.
The eyeball was breakdancing all the way through.
And I saw them steal a diamond necklace, three gold watches, and four hundred jewelry toilets!
Ooh! There it is! You heard it from your own son's mouth, Your Honor.
I rest my case. Very well.
It's time for the defense.
Banana the peanut, your witness.
Thank you. I... Objection, Your Honor!
Frederick, are you sure the peanut you saw was this peanut here and not just some random peanut?
Absolutely! Because he was shaped like a banana and he smelled like one.
Water! Order! Sheesh.
Any further questions?
Actually, I... No, Your Honor!
The defense rests! But I had more witnesses to...
Well, if the defense rests, then it's time for the jury to deliberate.
Jurassic jury, listen well!
Well, for here are your official jury instructions.
Ahem, ahem, ahem. Do whatever you want, then eat ten spiders.
And when you've reached your verdict, make sure you sing the results.
And please, don't arrest John the eyeball.
Eat ice cream, and when you're done, go home.
Relax, and go be funny guys.
Oh, also, remember, it's not about me.
And as always on Jurassic Justice, while we wait for the jury to deliberate and return with a verdict, please enjoy Hank, the Jurassic Justice tap dancer!
Hello, everyone! No much matter!
No, no, no, this is my favorite place.
This is it, this is it!
Eight hours later! I'm so tired, I'm so tired.
Thank you, Hank! The jury has reached a decision.
Oh, thank goodness, my foot.
I love you. Well, he does not look like he's having fun.
Somebody help him. This is not a good use of our budget.
I just want to say that.
Right now. What is your verdict?
Your honor, we find the guilty party is...
Everyone knows... Everyone?
Whatever do you mean?
We find John the eyeball, Banana the peanut, Albert the dinosaur, Frederick's the zillionaire shark, Banana's lawyer, and you judge by guilty.
Order! Thank you, jury.
Well, this whole time I've been saying this trial isn't about me, but as it turns out, it is about me.
Well, if I'm going to get sentenced, at least it will be with my best friend and my son.
Judge, but what will be our sentence?
Objection! What will our sentence be?
Can I get a word? Here is the sentence.
We all must stand in our underwear for 30 hours.
Order in the chikoraka court!
Now, if you'll all follow me, let's go find a place to stand for 30 hours.
And I hope we all wore our clean underwear.
Bailiff? Yes, Judge?
Take us away. And John?
Yes, Judge By? Drop one of those beats so we can leave the courtroom in style.
I thought you'd never ask, Judge By.
Now, if you feel them guilty, give these funky moves a try.
Here we go. Yeah! Whoa!
What amazing! He will race it to eyeballs!
And that's been another episode of Jurassic Justice.
The end of my career.
We'll be right back.
