It's going to be a November to remember.
But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo! guess this is it.
No, don't make this harder than it already is.
You'll be better off in the wild, Stampy.
A gingerbread mansion is no place for a fully grown African elephant.
Now go, Stampy.
Get out of here, Stampy.
Go!
I'm gonna miss you, old pal.
Thanks, buddy.
I wonder who that could be.
Kairazi!
What a pleasant surprise!
Mindy, you have to help.
Something wild is happening.
What?
Something wild?
In our neighborhood?
That doesn't sound right.
Someone's released a giant African elephant in the middle of the neighborhood.
It's already torn up half the street.
Okay, well, first of all, his name is Stampy.
And second of all... Mindy?
Woody?
How do you know the name of this elephant?
Because he's mine.
Well, he was mine.
I just released him.
Released him?
Yeah, it was really tough, but...
I think he'll be better off in the wild, you know?
In the wild?
Mindy, this isn't the wild.
This is an American suburban street.
Eh, tomato, tomato.
Mindy!
Hey, Roz, it's okay.
I mean, how bad can it be?
It's just one elephant.
How bad?
See for yourself.
Ugh, fine.
No!
Stop it!
No!
Uh. do about this?
I got it.
You got what?
An idea.
Come on, Guy Raz.
Follow me.
Now, I know it's on my coffee table here somewhere.
Table weekly, coffee monthly, coffee table quarterly.
Mindy, what are you looking for?
My latest issue of Inventor's Digest.
I'm right here yesterday.
Huh?
Where is it?
Inventor's Digest?
Yeah uh, I remember reading something in there that might help you with your elephant problem, Guy Raz.
My elephant problem?
Aha!
Found it!
Let me see here.
Uh, oh, here it is.
Check this out, Guy Raz.
What does it say?
The buzz box?
Uh-huh.
Simulated bee box bolsters quite a Buzz, what is this all about, Mindy?
It's a bee box.
A bee box?
Mindy, we don't have a bee problem.
We have a very big elephant problem.
Yes, but what are elephants afraid of?
Uh, lions?
No, smaller.
Oh, oh, mice.
Uh, smaller?
Smaller bee box.
Oh, oh, is it bees?
You know it, Guy Raz.
Turns out we're not the only ones with an elephant problem.
People all over Africa and Asia have been dealing with pesky wild elephants for hundreds of years.
Coming onto their property, eating all their crops.
Huh.
Which is why they came up with... The bee box?
The bee box!
Which is... Exactly what it sounds like.
A box full of bees.
Wow, really?
Yes.
These farmers would hang boxes of bees along their fences at the edge of their property.
And when those elephants are rocked up looking for a little snack, they would rock the fence, disturb the bees, hear the buzzing and hightail it out of there.
Whoa, so they really don't like bees, huh?
Nope.
Millions of years of evolution have taught them that when the bees come a-buzzing, they better get to running.
Right.
In fact, a study from 2017 found that these bee box fences were around 80 effective at scaring away elephants.
That's pretty impressive Mindy, but I don't know how I feel about hanging a bunch of beehives around my micro house just to fend off one pesky elephant.
Well, you are in luck, Guy Raz.
That was Bee Box version 1.0.
What they're talking about in that issue of Inventor's Digest is bee box...
Bee Box 2.0?
Uh-huh.
A group called Elephant Research and Conservation developed it a few months ago.
And get this.
It's completely bee-free.
You mean a bee box with no bees?
How does that work?
Well, these researchers found that the sound of the bees you know that buzzing noise is all you actually need to scare the elephants away.
Okay.
So...
They made a bunch of bee buzzing recordings and played them through a speaker.
So wait, they just have these bee recordings playing through a speaker at the edge of these farms to scare away elephants.
Well, not exactly.
See, the researchers' next step was to hook these speakers up to a motion detector.
Ah, I see.
So that the speaker only went off when there was something moving nearby, like an elephant.
Exactoritos.
Oh, boy.
Anywho, I think I have everything I need to build one of these bee boxes in my laboratory of bad ideas.
I just gotta stick it all together.
Well, what are we waiting for, Mindy?
That elephant is slowly destroying the whole neighborhood.
Let's go.
Oh, okay.
Follow me.
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run.
Oh, boy.
This is not good.
Thank goodness you're here.
You'll never believe what just happened.
Let me take a guess.
There's a giant African elephant running around the neighborhood?
No.
There's a giant African elephant running around the neighborhood.
And he completely destroyed my beautiful flowers, overturned my rain barrel and scuffed one of my shoes.
See?
Don't worry, Dennis.
We have a plan.
Hooray!
A plan!
What is it?
A bee box.
A bee box?
Bee box?
What's a bee box?
Well, I could tell you, Dennis.
Yes?
Or... K-Roz.
Oh, you want me to do it.
Or we could show you.
Catchphrase.
Say it again.
But we have to move fast before this elephant causes any more damage.
All right.
What are you hollering about?
Rip.
See about that, you oversized Aunt Edith.
Now, where did I put my wrestling leotard?
Uh, is Grandma G-Force planning on wrestling that elephant?
Yeah, this is not going to end well.
Uh, come on, everyone.
We need to hurry.
To the Laboratory of Bad Ideas!
Huzzah!
Opening the door...
Mindy, why is it so dusty in here?
It's not dust, Guy Raz.
It's cinnamon.
Cinnamon?
Yeah, from my last experiment.
I don't even want to know.
Ooh, it smells like the holidays in here.
Quick, follow me through to the recording studio, everyone.
Do you have a recording studio?
Wow.
Okay, let me just adjust the levels here.
Ahem.
Let me just see here.
Every noise annoys an oyster.
Every noise annoys an oyster.
Yep, levels are good.
All right, now let me just go get the talent.
Stand by here.
Talent?
Yeah, for the recording.
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run.
Okay.
So, Guy, Stampy eat all your micro-vegetables?
What?
Your teeny tiny veggies.
I assume Stampy ate them since he ate everything else in the neighborhood.
I'm back.
Mindy, what in the world do you have in that cardboard box?
It's the talent.
The talent?
Yeah, it's my bee colony.
Look.
Stop.
Close it, close it, close it.
Fine.
Okay, now I just put these little buddies in my recording booth.
What?
All right, out you come.
Mindy, what in the wow is going on in here?
I'm getting our recording for our buzz box, Sky Ross.
What does it look like I'm doing?
There we go.
Now, can everyone hear me in there?
What in the... Okay, we're gonna go for take one.
Now remember your motivation is that there is an angry elephant attacking your beehive and you want to scare it away.
And three, two, one.
Rolling!
Uh... Mindy?
And cut!
Okay, that was great, everyone, but can I get a little more aggression on the next take?
What?
Remember, this elephant is about to destroy your home.
You really want to scare him away, okay?
Mindy!
What?
Stop giving the bees creative direction.
We need to get this bee box made before Grandma G-Force finds her wrestling leotard.
Or even worse, before that elephant eats all my micro-vegetables.
Oh.
Good call.
Okay, everyone, that's a wrap.
Take five.
Okay, Guy Raz, let's get this audio track onto this speaker here.
Okay.
There we go.
Okay, and now all we have to do is attach this speaker to a motion sensor.
Where do you think you're going, mister?
Scared of a little old lady in a leotard?
Sounds like Grandma G-Force found her leotard.
Quickly, Mindy.
We don't have much more time.
Okay, okay.
Guy Raz, hand me that motion sensor on the desk over there.
You got it, Mindy.
Oh, okay.
Thank you.
Now, Dennis, hand me that wad of chewed up gum.
What?
Ew, no.
Dennis, we don't have time to argue.
Hand me the gum.
Okay.
Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew.
Here, take it, take it, take it, take it, take it.
Thank you.
Gross.
Now.
Just got to stick these two things together.
And there we go.
Our very own fully functional bee box.
Yay, we did it.
Quickly, Mindy, let's go set it up.
Right behind you, Guy Razzi.
Oh, hey there, Mr. Razzi.
Thomas Fingerling.
What are you doing here?
Well, looking for you two.
Is there a problem, Mr. Fingerling?
It's G-Force.
She's taken up some sort of elephant riding hobby and well, I just don't think it's good for the neighborhood, what with all the destruction and mayhem.
Wait, did you say Grandma G-Force was...
Riding the elephant?
Are your ears painted on?
Yeah, that's what I said.
Where is she now, Mr. Fingerling?
Well, last time I saw her, she was headed toward Mr. Rozzy's tiny house.
It's a bully, sustainable, solar-powered, carbon-neutral micro-house.
Oh, right.
What did I say?
We gotta get there quick, Guy Raz.
Come on, follow me.
All right.
Huzzah!
Huzzah!
Okay, Mindy, we're here.
Attach that bee box to my mailbox.
Okay, let me just get out some more of that chewing gum here.
Hurry, hurry up, Mindy.
And there.
Here they come.
Everyone take cover.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Not so bad.
How are you, Mr. Smelly Fan?
Hey, where are you going?
Mindy, it worked!
Yeah, that elephant stopped right in its tracks and turned around.
I sure hope Grandma G-Force can find her way back from wherever that elephant is off to now.
I'm sure she'll be fine.
Now you just need to make bee boxes for the rest of the neighborhood Mindy, and it'll be problem solved.
Hooray!
No more problems!
Yeah, I'm thinking of getting just two bees in the recording booth for the next bee box.
A nice little duet, you know?
Mindy!
Ooh!
Or maybe I could get four of them together to do a barbershop quartet kind of thing?
