  • Cooking Surfaces: Transition from nonstick cookware to cast iron or ceramic to avoid exposure to PFAS (forever chemicals) and other plastic-associated toxins.
  • Clothing Habits: Reduce the purchase of new clothing to minimize the shedding of microfibers. Reusing existing clothes and utilizing laundry filters or "guppy bags" can help trap these fibers before they enter the environment.

Facilitating Detoxification

Beyond avoidance, the body possesses mechanisms for detoxification. Huberman emphasizes the role of the liver's phase two (conjugation) detoxification process. To support this, he suggests:

  • Cruciferous Vegetables: Increasing intake of broccoli and cauliflower can enhance liver detoxification. Supplements like sulforaphane may also be beneficial, though raw vegetables are a potent, low-cost source.
  • Dietary Fiber: Consuming adequate fiber helps bind lipophilic molecules, aiding in the excretion of toxins through the digestive tract.
