Lots of great news, lots of great advice.
We're gonna kick off today's podcast with a great song Do you like Barenaked Ladies?
I think every guy does, but I think lots of girls do too This song is called One Week In Nova Scotia, Canada, 90 -year -old Betty Andrews received her high school diploma on June 16th She left school in 1952 to work on her family's farm.
After decades, she returned to complete her studies.
It's never too late, Betty said.
Her family and friends gave her a standing ovation at the ceremony.
On June 12th, police chased a man driving a slow -moving excavator around three miles per hour down a highway.
the strange pursuit lasted an hour before the excavator got stuck in mud no one was hurt the driver was arrested and the vehicle was towed and finally on june 20th police in the czech republic shut down a fake dental clinic run by a man and his parents they offered fillings and root canals without a license one patient had serious pain the family now faces charges Charges for illegal medical practice.
Yow. Man. I already am not a huge fan of dentists.
And it's not the people.
It's the work they do.
I understand it's necessary.
And I know nowadays it's almost pain -free, which is wonderful.
but i just have bad memories uh at the dentist's office this the one in the czech republic is a nightmare okay let's go back to the first story first story canada nova scotia do you know where nova scotia canada is way out in the eastern part of canada 90 n n nine zero 90 90 year old not nine not 19 but 90 90 year old Betty Andrews received her high school diploma on June 16th yay she graduated high school at 90 what happened well the story is she left school she quit school in 1952 why to work on her family's farm wow after decades one decade is 10 years so this has been tens and tens and tens
of years, 70 years, after seven decades, after decades, she returned to high school to complete her studies.
Man, can you imagine?
Think about what people studied in 1952 and now what people study in 2025.
I would say it's probably very different, but she did it she did it and this is what she said it's never too late absolutely it is never too late i love that it's never too late betty said her family and friends gave her a standing ovation at the ceremony that means that the graduation ceremony When she graduated, her family and friends all stood up and clapped.
Me too. I'm sitting, but I'm giving her, in spirit, a standing ovation.
Outstanding. You know, it's never too late.
For my lessons, you guys know I have speaking lessons and listening lessons.
I have two women in their 90s studying DDM.
Isn't that amazing?
Yeah. One of them is in Italy.
The other one is in Japan.
Two ladies in their 90s.
They love it. They're full of energy.
They love the study.
It makes me so happy.
Are you in your 90s and studying with me?
Let me know. I only know of two people.
On the other spectrum, I have two 9 -year -olds that study with us, too.
Actually, their moms are the ones who study.
But their moms invited their daughters.
Both of them are girls.
Both of them are 9 years old.
And they're great. Yeah, it makes me really happy.
It's never too late, and evidently, it's never too early.
Our second story, on June 12th Police chased a man Driving a slow -moving Excavator Do you know what an excavator is?
An excavator is a construction vehicle Okay, it's not a car It's a construction vehicle They use it to dig dirt Move dirt, right?
The guy, and I saw the video It wasn't a large excavator But it was an excavator you can look for it online the spelling here you go e -x -c -a -v -a -t -o -r excavator and if you're if you're going to google it i would google small excavator and look up images and you'll see uh the sky well anyway you'll see the vehicle so how fast was he going around 3 miles per hour down a highway 3 miles per hour is approximately 5 kilometers per hour and the police were chasing him in their vehicles why didn't they just like run and stop him what's this guy doing the police had to chase him for an hour hour the strange pursuit
pursuit chase c -h -a -s -e chase as a noun pursuit same thing the strange pursuit lasted an hour before the excavator got stuck in mud now that's funny too because excavators normally never get stuck they're construction vehicles they're you know they They don't get stuck.
Anyway, it lasted an hour.
No one was hurt. That's good.
The driver was arrested, and the vehicle was towed. You know, they had another vehicle come and pick up the excavator.
I don't know why, but I'm guessing the guy was drunk.
I'm guessing. I have no idea.
That's just crazy. And speaking of crazy, we got more crazy.
on june 20th police in the czech republic shut down a fake dental clinic run by a man and his parents so there's a dentist a dental clinic in the czech republic and nobody there was actually a dentist. What sort of services did they do?
They offered fillings.
So if you have a cavity, a little hole in your tooth, they'll fill it up with gold, I don't know, and root canals.
Oh my God, that's where they drill into your mouth.
That's serious. That's a major surgery.
They They offered fillings and root canals without a license.
Nobody had a license.
One patient had serious pain, I'm sure.
The family now faces charges for illegal medical practice.
Of course they do. Don't be doing that.
It's unbelievable. It's terrible.
It's stupid. Scary is what it is.
Can you imagine thinking that they're dentists and you go there?
and then now finding out they're not.
Destroy your mouth.
Oh, speaking of mouth, that is going to be, we have two songs coming up, and they're requests.
When the Morning Comes by Smash Mouth.
Marilyn Manson, he's got a big mouth too.
Tainted Love, I hope you enjoy them.
Before that though, let's check out the news stories one more time.
Here we go. In Nova Scotia, Canada, 90 -year -old Betty Andrews received her high school diploma on June 16th.
She left school in 1952 to work on her family's farm.
After decades, she returned to complete her studies.
It's never too late, Betty said.

They offered fillings and root canals without a license.
One patient had serious pain.
The family now faces charges for illegal medical practice.
Where education and entertainment come together.
Let's Master English.
Do it. How you doing, everybody?
This is Country Shane, and I'm bringing you the facts.
Hey, everybody. Country Shane here.
Wisdom teeth. You know what the wisdom teeth are?
Those are those last teeth to grow, usually when you're 17, 18, 19, up into your 20s.
Those last teeth at the back of your mouth.
In America, we call them wisdom teeth.
Why? Well, I guess that's when you start to get wisdom.
You know, it's funny, Country Shane.
In Korea, they're called love teeth.
teeth. And my understanding is that is the age you fall in love and get married when those teeth come in.
I have all four of my wisdom teeth.
I have them all. Yep.
I never had them pulled.
A lot of people get their wisdom teeth removed.
What about you? Do you have all of your wisdom teeth?
Does your language, do your country have a special name for wisdom teeth?
Do you call them wisdom teeth?
Do you call them love teeth?
I'm curious. Oh, and by the way, not everyone gets wisdom teeth.
We need a song. We need a song about teeth, but I couldn't find one that I liked.
So Praz's Ghetto Superstar is what you, what you, what we got.
simple tips for mastering english yeah i got two tips today uh today first of all we're going to talk about a phrasal verb then i have a listening tip speaking tip too kind of the phrasal verb calm down c -a -l -m -d -o -w -n to calm down now do we pronounce the l yeah it's a dark l calm calm calm down i do and i do recommend that you pronounce it too um it means relax relax to be less upset so for example after yelling at the coach the player calmed down take a breath you need to calm down she calmed down the baby by singing softly calm down is a great expression expression, except from a husband to
a wife. I highly advise, if you're young and don't know, men who are married, you probably already know, telling your wife to calm down is not a smart thing to say.
Just be careful. Otherwise, it's great.
Calm down. Calm down.
I say it to my my two boys all the time and my wife says it to me, but I cannot say it to my wife.
Listening tip or is it a speaking tip?
Kind of both. We have a speaking class called PERF.
Speaking is not only pronunciation.
It's not only grammar. It's not only vocabulary.
Speaking is style. That's so important.
As adults, we communicate and communication is not just the sounds that come out our mouth, but it's how the sounds come out, the tones, the rhythm, the cadence, the volume, right?
It's the expressions, the eyes, the mouth, the body language.
There's so much to communication.
So a student asked me, how can I learn adverbs?
How can I learn adjectives?
You for example, really and so.
And the way you learn it is to say it the way Americans say it.
So if you're listening to, I don't know, a movie, somebody might say, I was so scared.
But they probably do not say, I was so scared.
They probably say, I was so scared.
so you need to practice that I was so scared I am so hungry I am so tired you need to practice that that's really weird that's really difficult that's really funny really say it like a human copy those patterns when you hear somebody listen for it you're going to hear it And then say it When you're practicing So and really I want you to really hit it hard It is so easy And it's really important You got it?
Now this time I got a song That actually matches what we studied Rima and Selena Gomez They have a song called Calm Down I'll play that next I seriously want you guys to practice this stuff Okay?
weekly speaking challenge yeah last week we had the question what do you do on sundays do you want to hear my sunday today my sunday today i live streamed for almost four hours then what did i do uh i did so much well i prepped our let's master english podcast this is probably Probably four or five hours of work.

me that surprised me I reacted by jerking my neck back and what did I learn never trust social media I was shocked by an oncoming train Now that's my personal situation.
That's way too long.
I want you to do it more concise.
For example, last week I found a stray dog outside my door.
I was surprised, but I helped it and I called the shelter.
Always be nice. Okay?
