They love you.
Who doesn't love you?
We love Kate Hudson.
Welcome back.
Happy belated birthday before we even get into the interview.
I'm so old.
Oh, please give me a break.
I love it.
I like getting old.
I really think I'm going to be a great old person.
Really?
Yeah, because I like it.
Because it gets better.
You don't have to care as much.
Did you have a rager?
Did you have a party?
I had a crawfish boil.
See, you do cool things like that.
I had a beignet cake.
Ooh.
And I got my crawfish in, because I have to do that every crawfish season.
That's so fun.
Have you ever had it boiled?
It's so fun.
It's the best.
No, I've seen them on TV.
Are you...
Are you into, like, crime?
Yeah.
I mean, I get dirty.
And they just boil it up, and there's corn and there's sausage and potatoes, and we just throw it on.
Yes!
Dude, that's so fun.
It was the best.
And the kids love it.
They just run around.
How old is Ryder?
I hate to ask.
Oh, well, he's not a kid.
I mean, he's still my kid.
Ryder's 22.
You're joking.
Yeah.
Yep.
22 years old?
Oh, yeah.
Wait, is he going to school?
He's graduating college in two weeks.
I have to send a card.
We realize... I have to send a card.
We realized that I think I could get this wrong and offend some generation.
But I think he's the first person ever in my family history to graduate college.
Wow.
Good man.
Congratulations, Ryder.
He's doing it.
He did it.
He followed through.
Where did he go to school?
NYU.
Oh, so he's here.
He's here.
Is he loving it?
Loves it.
Loves it and ready.
You know, ready to, like, be in the world.
He's the coolest.
I love that he's the coolest guy.
He's here here.
He is?
Yeah, he's coming here right now.
Oh, my God.
I got to go say hi to him.
Because didn't he come up?
Didn't he play drums?
That was Bing.
Oh, Bing.
Yeah, Bing's our drummer.
He's the drummer.
He's a great drummer.
He's still drumming.
He's an amazing drummer.
He drums till his hands bleed.
That's his whole thing.
Wow!
He comes in the kitchen, and he's drumming, and then he always just comes in and goes...
Whoa!
Respect, buddy.
Yeah.
Last time you were here, it was for you've been nominated for Golden Globe and it was for your fantastic performance in Song Sung Blue.
And it was great!
And you were amazing in it.
And there was Oscar buzz in the air.
And then, sure enough, you get nominated for an Oscar.
Congratulations!
That's what I'm talking about!
Come on, bud!
I'm so happy!
Everybody loves you.
I'm kind of in the same color.
Well, I'm kind of in that color, too.
With greens.
Yeah, I hear you guys are celebrating with family.
Oh, there is Ryder.
Yeah, there's Ryder and Danny.
And your mom.
Your mom is unbelievable.
Can I just say how she's just iconic, and I love her so much.
Please tell her hi.
I love her.
I think about her.
I'm like, dude, Goldie Hawn is unbelievable.
She's the best and I realize that every time I call her on FaceTime she always has some roller in her hair.
I called her today, and I'm like, what is in your hair?
She always puts one of the big Velcro rollers, and she just leaves it in all day long.
I didn't know that people still use rollers anymore, but they do.
Oh, yeah.
Really?
Oh, yeah.
My daughter, she bought rollers because we went to HomeGoods, which is the best store.
Have you ever been to HomeGoods?
I know HomeGoods, yeah.
It is unbelievable.
It's the weirdest store I've ever been in in my life.
I'm like, honey, do we need a six-foot fork?
It's like weird stuff.
So she got these weird bendy rollers.
And so, yeah, she's 11 years old.
I love it.
Oh, those are the cool rollers.
Oh, really?
And you can sleep in them.
Yeah, she sleeps in them.
Yeah.
And then your hair is really perfectly curly.
She's so into it now.
Yeah.
How old is she?
12?
Yeah.
Yeah, that's the age.
She's loving it right now.
But the accolades for you keep coming in, by the way.
I just saw you're on Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2026.
Come on!
You're not stopping.
It's just, it's so fun.
You're not stopping.
I was like, wow.
Don't.
Don't stop.
We want more Kate Hudson.
I love it.
And more Running Point, by the way.
Oh, it's so fun.
I'm so happy it's out.
Season 2, it's out now.
It's out.
Thanks.
It's a funny show.
Justin Theroux.
Chet Hanks is my dude.
He's coming on.
Chet's coming on next week.
I love him.
I have to tell a Chet story.
I really want to tell this so people know that this happened.
I get this phone call. from a friend of mine.
And the phone call's like, and I don't know what's happening.
I'm kind of checked out of, like, the news.
And I get this phone call, and he goes, hey, hey, is Chet still stuck in Colombia?
And I was like, I'm sorry?
Like, yeah, he's stuck in Colombia, and he can't leave the country.
This is not the script.
And I'm like, oh, I am in.
I'm playing Isla Gordon.
I am in my show.
In your life?
Oh, and... He really was stuck in Colombia.
He was stuck in Colombia, and he found his way out, I guess, his friend came.
Because he didn't bring his passport or something?
Yeah, he didn't bring his passport.
It's a very Chet story.
I cannot wait to talk to him about this.
I love that it's not part of the script.
It's not his character.
No.
Please bring it up, because it's a funny story.
What is happening with Season 2?
Season 2 is basically Justin Theroux's character Cam, who gave me my job as president, who used to be the president, comes back into the picture and, you know, kind of throws me off my game a little bit.
And it's just more family dynamics.
Lots of... Because he wants to take over the basketball team.
Well, I mean, you know, he's sort of kind of gunning for a job, if not his old job back.
You know?
And... The writing is great.
It's really great.
It's so funny.
Ike Barinholtz?
Ike makes an appearance this year.
He's going to be in it.
He's so funny.
And you know what?
When you're working with people that write the way they do, it's like, it just doesn't stop.
It's machine-gun comedy.
It's so much comedy.
And Ray Romano.
Ray... Ugh.
Three Romanos in this season.
The greatest.
That is so great.
I don't feel so lucky.
It's fantastic, but congrats again on season two.
I want to show a clip.
Here's Kate Hudson in season two of Running Point.
Take a look at this.
He was, like, seconds from asking me out.
Was he?
Sounds like you were seconds away from offering up your body.
Ali, there was a pregnant pause.
Now I know what that means.
I think it's finally our time.
Hmm.
Okay, that's a very judgy hmm.
You just got out of an eight-year relationship.
Have some fun.
I am trying to have fun, Ally.
I'm trying to have fun with Jay.
Ayla, your first post-love hookup needs to be low stakes.
Someone you'll never see again.
You don't like that guy when we were in Vegas.
Or that guy in Cabo.
Or that other guy in Cabo.
Okay, I get the point.
I'm a retired slut.
And it's time for you to get back to the streets.
So please don't text Jay.
Or send him conspiracy reels on Instagram.
Ali, the sinking of the Titanic was not an accident.
There is proof.
I'm leaving.
That's right.
Kate Hudson, everybody!
Season 2 of Running Point is out now on Netflix.
Kate and I are playing a fun new game when we come back.
Stick around, everybody.
Come on back.
