Job interviews are stressful, and doing them in English, even more stressful.
You might even be a grammar expert, but when it's time to answer those interview questions, you're not sure what sounds natural or professional.
Today I'll teach you 20 must-know English phrases for job interviews so you can sound confident, clear, and professional.

Okay, let's go step by step.
First, starting the interview.
Phrase number one, thank you for having me.
That's a polite and professional way to begin.
Number two, it's great to meet you.
That's friendly, but still professional.
Number three, I've been looking forward to this interview.
That shows enthusiasm.
And number four, I appreciate the opportunity.
That one's a little more formal.
Now let's move on to talking about yourself.
Phrase number five, I have experience in, and then talk about the different areas or your different skills.
That's a clear way to introduce your background.
Number six, I've worked in, and then name your industry or field, for, and then say a length of time.
That shows your level of experience.
Number seven, my previous role involved, and then name some tasks or responsibilities.
That one's useful for describing responsibilities at your last job.
Number eight, one of my key strengths is, that's a classic, but it's still very effective.
You could also say number nine, I'm particularly skilled at to highlight your abilities.
When it comes to talking about specific achievements, you could use phrase number 10.
One of my biggest accomplishments was, that's great for highlighting something major and something good you did in the past.
Number 11, I was responsible for, that shows ownership and accountability.
Phrase number 12, I helped improve and then say what it was.
That one focuses on results.
And then use phrase number 13, as a result, to help show the impact of your work.
Sometimes the interviewer asks you a difficult question.
You can use phrase number 14, that's a good question, to buy a little time to think and still sound confident.
Or you could say, number 15, let me think for a moment.
That's a natural way to pause.
Number 16, in that situation, I would, this is how you can answer a question about a hypothetical or an imaginary situation.
Finally, some phrases to show interest in the job.
Number 17, I'm excited about this role because, that highlights your motivation.
Number 18, I'm especially interested in, and then pick one aspect of the job to talk about.
You also might want to ask the interviewer some questions, so you could use number 19.
Could you tell me more about, to show curiosity and engagement.
And finally, number 20, you could ask, what does success look like in this role?
That's an excellent professional question.
Why do these phrases matter in interviews?
It's not just what you say, it's how you say it.
Do you seem nervous, unfocused and unsure, or do you seem calm, organized and confident?
You can use these 20 phrases to talk about your skills and experience confidently and respond naturally under the pressure of a job interview.
