It's imagination time with Katie. Hi friends, you're listening to Super Simple Imagination Time with Katie.
This episode is inspired by the Super Simple song, I Have A Pet. being responsible for something or someone else like a pet takes a lot of love and care.
We'll learn all about it in today's episode.
Here we go! Hello, hello It's good to be with you, my friend Hello, hello I'm glad we're together again We got Zach on the keys Katie singing, la la la la We'll have some fun in our imagination Go on adventures again and again Hello, hello It's good to be with you my friend Hello, hello.
I'm Katie, and Zach is here too. Woof woof!
What? Zach, is that you? It's me. Woof woof.
I'm pretending to be a dog. Oh, I see. Imagination time has begun.
Woof woof to you too. You know, I really wanted to have a dog when I was younger.
But it turned out it wasn't a right fit for my family.
It's a big thing to get a pet. Once you have one, you become responsible for it.
That means it's up to you to take care of it, to love it, and to make sure it's happy.
Even though I didn't have a dog growing up, sometimes I liked to pretend I did.
Today, let's go on an adventure into our imagination.
And we can pretend we have a pet, and we can imagine what it might be like to love and take care of something else.
To get ready for our imagination time, let's take a moment to clear our minds together.
Are you ready, Zach? Ready, Katie. I mean, woof, Katie.
Are you ready, friends? Okay, let's take a deep breath all together.
In one, two, three, hold it Out three, two, one Let's relax the muscles in our body.
Relax your eyes and relax your toes. and everything else in between.
When we're really still and quiet, you might be able to feel your heart beating.
Let's imagine a big feeling of love starting in our hearts and moving through our bodies and floating out into the air.
Let's take another deep breath and this time we'll use our breath to fill our hearts up and grow that feeling of love.
In one, two, three, hold it. Out three, two, one.
Now let's imagine I have a pet. He is a dog.
And he goes woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof A great place to get a pet is at an adoption center.
There are lots of animals there that are looking for happy homes and caring owners.
Let's pretend to step into an adoption center, and we'll find the dogs that are up for adoption.
I imagine I see lots of dogs. There are big ones and small ones. and medium-sized ones.
And all their tails are wagging! Can you see them in your mind?
Look at their tails go! They're excited to see us.
Hmm. I wonder what it would be like to have a tail.
Can you imagine wagging your tail? I can!
Right, you're pretending to be a dog. Hey!
Why don't we all pretend to be a dog? after all.
That might be the best way to learn what a dog needs.
By imagining what it would be like to be them.
And we can imagine anything when we use our imagination.
We can be anything when we're imagining Anything we want to be, imagine with me Let's imagine we have four paws.
Two floppy ears. One what knows. And fur all over.
Let's pretend to wag our tail. We can stick out our tongue and make a sound like a dog.
Woof woof! We're dogs all right! Ooh, I imagine I suddenly feel like I have lots of energy.
I just wanna run around! I gotta move! Move!
Move! Move! Move! Move! Move! Move! Move!
Move! Move to the left! Dogs do have lots of energy.
They have to go on walks every day and have a chance to run around.
Let's pretend to get ready to go for a walk.
Getting ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready to go.
We need a person to walk with us. Dogs can't go for a walk all on their own.
They need a leash and someone to come along.
Let's imagine we have that special person who is looking after us.
So now... We're ready, ready, ready, we're ready, ready, ready to take a walk Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I can't wait!
Oh, I can't wait to go! Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, let's go!
I imagine the door's opening! I can see the outside!
Come on! Let's go! Let's go for a walk outside and see what we can see Hooray!
I imagine I can feel my four paws moving together as we walk along.
Oh, and there's so many things to see. and so many things to smell.
Dogs have an excellent sense of smell. Let's pretend to sniff over here.
And sniff over there. What do you imagine you smell?
I imagine I smell pizza! Pizza! Outside?
Well, a dog might be able to smell things that are far away.
Especially when it's food. Speaking of food, I think I'm feeling hungry.
There's a monster in my tummy and it grumbles when it's hungry.
Grumble grumble! Grumble grumble! A dog's stomach can grumble, too.
They need to eat food every day, just like us.
But they usually don't eat pizza. Let's imagine a big bowl on the ground filled with delicious dog food.
It was put out for us by someone who cares.
We'll pretend to lower our big doggy mouth to the food, and we'll eat it!
Munch munch yum yum munch munch yum yum I imagine I feel much better now.
I feel like I'd like to thank the special person who put the food out for us.
Dogs like to show how much they care too.
They do it by snuggles and cuddles and by giving licks with their tongue.
It's really important for us to give and to get cuddles from the people we love.
Let's imagine someone is giving us cuddles.
I imagine I can feel them scratching behind my ear.
I'm petting my fur. We can say thank you by giving them a doggy kiss.
Let's pretend to give a kiss and we'll imagine giving a lick in our minds with our big sloppy dog tongue.
It feels nice to spend time with someone you love.
But maybe now it's time for a nap. Dogs need to get their rest too.
Let's imagine a nice, soft and fluffy doggy bed on the floor.
It's nice to have a special place to sleep that's just for us.
We'll pretend to stretch out our paws and rest down on the bed.
I know we'll have a happy sleep because there's someone who's taking care of us and making sure we're happy and loved. you Good night to you Good night to me Now close your eyes And go to sleep Good night, sleep tight Sweet dreams tonight Good night, I love you I wonder what kind of sweet dreams a dog might have.
Maybe they would dream about playing fetch in a big dog park.
That would be a happy dream for a dog. Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd.
Let's imagine a ball flying through the air.
It's soaring through the sky. We'll run to it and see if we can catch it.
Let's pretend we're moving our four paws, running towards the ball.
Whoosh! I imagine I can feel the wind against my fur coat as the ball gets closer to the ground.
Let's jump up in our minds and pretend to catch it in our mouth.
Here we go! Now let's bring it back to our owner and drop it at their feet.
What a fun game. For a dog, it's a very fun game.
Playing games is a great way to make sure a dog is feeling happy.
Woof, woof! Ah, but this sweet dream is over.
It's time to wake up. Let's imagine stretching out our doggy bodies as we stand up out of our doggy bed.
Oh. What's this feeling now? I imagine it feels like... I have to go to the bathroom!
Woof! When I gotta go, I stop what I'm doing I go to the party and I sit right down But dogs don't go to the bathroom on the potty.
We have to go outside. That's right. Someone has to let us outside and quick.
Let's pretend to bark to get our owner's attention.
Woof woof! Woof woof! Ugh, I hope this works!
When you wanna give up, try again. Keep on trying, keep on trying.
Woof woof! Woof woof woof! It works! I imagine we're being let outside just in time.
It's party time Now I understand. When a dog is barking, it's probably trying to tell us it needs something.
There are a lot of things a dog needs. It needs to get exercise and eat and play and rest and go to the bathroom.
It also needs love, just like us. A great way to try to understand what someone else needs is to imagine what it might be like to be them.
I know I've learned a lot about what a dog means by imagining what it would be like to be a dog.
And it was fun pretending to be a dog too.
Woof woof! It sure was! But for now, let's pretend to be us again.
If we were to adopt a dog or any kind of pet, we have a great imagination to imagine what they need so we can make sure they're happy.
And we have a great heart, full of love that can help us care for them, no matter who they are.
Maybe you have a cat. I have a pet. She is a cat.
And she goes meow, meow, meow, meow. meow meow or maybe you have a fish I have a pet he is a fish And he goes glub, glub, glub, glub, glub, glub, glub.
There are lots of different kinds of pets to have.
You could even have a pet rock if you aren't able to have a living pet.
It really doesn't matter what kind of pet you have.
It's all about the love you have for them and the love you share.
I'm feeling the love today. I had a lot of fun spending imagination time with you.
I hope you had a good time too. Now it's time to say goodbye, but we'll be together again soon.
Goodbye, goodbye Our time has come to an end goodbye for now until we're together again Goodbye, goodbye from all your friends at Super Simple.
