So I'm a dental medical student, which is already taking a lot of my time, but somehow I'm able to manage being a student while being able to manage this YouTube channel, which is a big side income for me, I guess.
And I'm also able to work out very consistently in the gym.
The past few weeks, I've been very consistent for around 90 days, I think already.
And I mean, come on, look at these gains, baby.
I'm just kidding.
There are no gains.
I'm also someone who's trying to make music and eventually make it a career.
Hopefully, one day.
I'm also building projects for my business ventures, all while maintaining a healthy social life and a life full of hobbies and everything.
Now, just from that routine alone, I think people will expect me that I'm this freak of productivity.
I just work 24 seven, which I really am not.
Believe it or not, I'm actually someone who's pretty lazy.
I'm not someone who's very driven, or I'm not someone who's crazy enough to be super driven 100 of the time.
It's just that somehow I managed to manage my time so well that I'm able to do all this consistently.
So in this video I will be teaching you guys how you can manage so many interests and like hobbies school everything, and how it's possible, given the same 24 hours we are given.
And trust me, it's actually pretty easy.
All right.
The first step is to step up day prioritizations, and This is a very huge realization for me, which is that you cannot really do everything in one day.
Now, what I mean by that is that a lot of influencers tell you okay, make sure to tackle at least five avenues of your life every day and you will slowly reach your goals in all of those avenues in life.
And as much as I want to think that that's the way to do it, it's actually not true.
And by not true I mean that it's quite literally impossible to magically do every of your avenues or interests every day.
I think it's Pretty basic logic that some avenues or some tasks or some interests really take more time than others.
Some tasks really take a lot of energy and some just really take up your entire day.
So I just feel like it's really impossible to do everything in one day, which is why every time I film a video or do a production for this YouTube channel, I keep it on a very separate day, because whenever I have class during the day, I like to prime my mind for class.
I don't want to worry about production or YouTube or anything else while i have class.
I want to focus on school instead of, you know, having it jumbled up.
The thing about mixing different families of tasks or different kinds of tasks in a day is that your mind ends up being scattered like scattered as, and i think you guys already experienced this kind of mix up once in your life.
For example, imagine i have an assignment coming up.
Your mind just can't help but think about that assignment, right?
Like, come on, I'm sure you experienced this.
Even if I set aside time to work on my assignment later, I still think about it.
Like, I'm still stressed about like, oh my God, I have to do this assignment.
And that period of free time before my task is wasted because my mind is pretty much preoccupied with the task ahead.
It takes a lot of mental energy and I get stressed thinking about it.
Therefore, those hours where I'm supposedly spending free time are wasted, because I'm just thinking about the task that's upcoming, that's about to happen.
This is why, every day, I set myself a specific theme, a specific highlight, to at least accomplish one throughout the day.
Just one.
You don't, it doesn't have to be like very complicated.
It doesn't have to be like something grand.
It just has to be something within a theme which I can achieve.
So, for example, if my day is full of school, I will tell myself okay, I'm just going to focus on school.
I'm just going to focus on class.
I'm going to mainly study my subjects.
I'm going to finish all my outputs and whatnot, and I'll make this day really for studying.
Sometimes, when it is the weekend and I have a whole free day to myself, I tell myself okay, since I have a free day, I'm mainly going to focus on production.
I'm going to start making YouTube videos.
I'm going to film my YouTube videos, film a bunch of shots, film a bunch of B-rolls.
Now you might be asking me how about those habits that you need to do every day, like going to the gym, reading a book or I don't know studying reviewing, every day?
I thought you're supposed to do them every day, Kai.
You recommended that to do every day, you hypocrite.
Well, I'm glad you asked, my dear people, because no one freaking asked.
I'm just kidding.
This moves me to my next point, which is that there's actually two types of tasks.
The first family of tasks or the type of tasks that you have, which are the big project based tasks.
This could be your major school assignment.
This could be your deep studying for a major exam, or this could be a YouTube video.
The main characteristic of this type of task is that it requires a long period of time to focus, defocus.
So this type of task really requires a huge block of time in your day.
And this is what I call your type A tasks.
Basically, type A tasks are big projects that require a long period of time.
Your second type of task is essentially quick tasks that can be done within 15 minutes, 30 minutes or even an hour.
For example, this could be like going to the gym, doing your workouts, talking to your friends, hanging out with your loved ones, or simply recalling your flashcards, doing a bit of a review.
I tend to call these kinds of tasks type B tasks.
Now, problem why you're not managing your time very well, which the main issue is that when it comes to managing all of these things, people tend to mix these two types of tasks together throughout their day.
For example, let's say first thing in the morning I, let's say, do a very long study session and then right after that I suddenly work on this tiny project that I have for YouTube and then after that I finish an assignment that I have for school and I head to school.
That kind of morning routine is very mixed up.
That kind of routine I can guarantee no one would probably followed through 100.
It's just way too chaotic.
So instead of mixing all these tasks, here is what I want you to do.
And this is what I've been doing for the past few months, which is to separate your days.
All right, we already discussed creating a day highlight, which is essentially a goal of the day.
But that doesn't account for the other things that we have to include in the day, like our other avenues in life, like gym studying reading, whatnot.
So, to organize these tasks, we need to divide our day into three blocks your morning block, your afternoon block and your nighttime block.
And the reason why I am blocking it this way is because your task type should occupy the entire block.
I'm not kidding.
The tasks that really require a long work session.
If we mix that block with short, you're not going to end up finishing your huge project.
To begin with.
You're going to end up being interrupted all the time.
So that's why I always dedicate my morning to production for my YouTube channel.
Whenever I dedicate my morning to production for my YouTube channel, whenever I'm hit with a meeting, that just ruins my whole flow.
Or, let's say, even a small chat from a friend.
That really disrupts my work, which is why I really protect my time whenever I'm doing a huge project or a Type A task.
However, when a block is full of Type B tasks, it is much easier for me to include things like socializing with a friend going out to a gym, because they do not really interfere with each other.
It's more like quick tasks that could be filled in your schedule in succession.
Now, once you've blocked out your morning, afternoon and night time, decide on whether or not you're going to be doing a type a task on that specific block or a type b tasks on that specific block.
So, for example, a typical school day for me would look like this in the first block of the morning i would do really deep focus studying.
That's pretty much where I dedicate all my deep work or deep studying in the morning.
So whenever I'm studying or writing for something or doing a project, it's typically in the morning.
Typically my mornings are dedicated to my big tasks, my type A tasks.
Then in the afternoon, I'm typically in school and I dedicate this time to my classes.
I don't do anything else.
I don't try to work on YouTube or anything.
I just focus my energy on school and my friends.
So I don't have to worry about it when I get home.
Then usually after school, this is usually at night. because my class ends at 8 p.m.
We have eight to eight classes, which is a nightmare.
I then do my type B tasks, which typically includes gym, chatting with friends, backlogs reading, whatnot.
Now I know this sounds like a very limiting schedule, but trust me when I say you really have to be strict with your time.
Which moves me to my final point, be selfish.
I'm gonna be honest, you have to be selfish with your time because if you're watching this and you're around 18 to 20 or you know, around that range, I have to tell you that you are quite literally at the prime time of your life to be literally selfish with your time.
You have to really treasure the time that you have, because this time, right now, your 20s is the time you need in order to really explore and to fail and to gain the skills that you necessarily need for your career.
And, quite frankly, you're not going to be able to achieve, or at least make progress towards those goals if you don't have time for yourself.
If you keep letting people or if you keep letting things run over your time.
You really have to be selfish with your time.
You have to really agree to yourself that I'm gonna stick to what's important right now.
You have to say no.
You have to prioritize what truly matters.
Now, the cool product from this whole thing is that when you prioritize very well, you realize that people don't end up judging you for it.
Like people, a lot of people, you know in my experience.
A lot of people are scared that when they prioritize time for themselves, they think that people will think about them weirdly.
But kind of realize that when you take time for yourself, you start literally improving yourself and you start actually showing something, you start actually working towards something and if you truly have real friends, they will respect that.
They will respect that you need time for yourself, that you need time to grow and everything.
That's where your true friends are.
If they don't respect that, I don't know if they're friends worth having.
If there's one takeaway from this video, it is to literally be strict with your time.
And you know i'm not just talking about focusing on your tasks, but i really want you to compromise, because if you really want to improve on a specific goal, then unfortunately you will have to sacrifice a bit to make progress.
And now i understand that there is this notion of having balance for everything.
But i'm going to be real.
If you're young and if you're ambitious, if you want to make progress, you have to push yourself.
You have to really push yourself because you are at an age where your drive is gonna be like the most on fire.
You know, later on, when you're 30 or 40s, you could change your source of motivation.
But when you're young, you're dying for that growth and you should really make use of that.
And trust me, when you start prioritizing and you start being selfish with your time, you will not regret.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed today's video.
