I have to say I just went shopping on Quince for some summer looks and it was wonderful.
As you know, summer is upon us and it's time to update that wardrobe.
Instead of a flimsy fast fashion haul, I say get some high quality essentials from Quince.
I recently got the gorgeous European linen smoked midi dress in navy and I love it.
I was astonished at how much cheaper it was than I originally anticipated given the quality.
I wear it with my favourite boots and it just looks great.

Luxurious mulberry silk skirts and Italian leather bags and 14 carrot-cold jewelry from $30.
All their prices are 50 to 80% less than similar brands.
And because Quince creates timeless classic styles that won't go out of fashion, you'll

My name is K-Songer and it's Monday.
I'm hoping everyone was able to have a restful and positive weekend.
It's so interesting to me how as long as I've been practicing mindfulness and meditation,
sometimes it feels like day one still.
I remember I had a friend that once said to me, man, K-Songer, you must be super productive
because I know you're so focused all the time.
I'm like, no, not at all.
I mean, I do like to think that I'm doing alright in the focused apartment, but by
no means am I perfect.
I'm human also and we all have our moments.
Today is all about reiterating the basics of mindfulness, including the part about being
human and gentle with yourself.
So this past holiday, my family spent it up in New York and New Jersey because that's
what my parents live and my sister and her family are also up there.
We tend to rotate locations every year for the holidays.
This past year was my sister's turn.
We love the opportunity to travel up to New York City and Jersey, especially during the
holidays.
There's something so magical about the New Year holiday in New York.
It's funny because what we end up doing every time is just eating and eating and eating
some more.
My oldest daughter has a knack of picking out some of the most delicious eating spots
to be found in New York.
They almost always tend to be pretty popular and they almost always also tend to be
held expensive.
But to be honest, the experience is usually worth the extra coin.
As per usual, she had some specific spots in mind for this trip also.
One such spot was a very popular bakery in Soho called Dominique and Cell.
My daughter had informed us that the line to this bakery becomes extremely long, extremely
fast.
So we should get there earlier in the day so that we have the opportunity to get the
pastries that we wanted.
Oh, because another common occurrence at this particular bakery is that they run out
of certain popular pastries because of the demand.
So, the place opened at 8 a.m. but as we were on vacation, we didn't get to the city
until around 10.
And then we had to find parking.
So ultimately, we arrived at Dominique and Cell at around 11 a.m.
And my daughter was correct and the line was hella long.
It was actually going down the entire block.
They had to close the front doors to the actual bakery and only let people in a few at
a time because they were just too many people.
They were just at capacity.
Initially, my daughter was pissed.
She was like, I knew you should have been here earlier.
I told you all this the night before.
Why weren't you all ready?
And on and on and on.
I wanted to fire back, but quickly dipped into my mindful parenting bag.
And I didn't respond much.
I've learned over the years how to respond to my lovely daughters, especially when they
get agitated in certain situations.
In this case, I had to be gentle with her and just mindfully ride this wave of anger and
frustration with her.
After she had her initial purge, she stood there in line, arms folded, scowling amidst
a tangible tension.
But she had calmed down some.
We rode the wave a little longer and then she realized that the line was moving at a
decent pace and I noticed that she relaxed even more.
You good?
I asked her with a smirk.
Yes, she replied with a smirk and I knew we were back to normal.
And so we're standing on this line, waiting for those delicious donuts and we start to
notice the people leaving the bakery as they walk past us.
Some of them eating the delicious looking and smelling donuts and pastries.
This increases our anticipation of when we can get hours.
We start talking about how delicious the donuts are going to be and how we can't wait
and hoping there will still be some left.
I suddenly noticed that we weren't being present.
We were in a spiral of anticipation.
I took the opportunity and invited my daughter to play a mind from this game with me.
Not a tie-by but just simply observing.
I mean here we were on this line in the middle of arguably the most interesting city on
earth and we were just thinking about donuts and pastries.
I mean no judgment of course.
My daughter was pleased to participate and for the next moments we just mindfully observed
and took in our surroundings.
We noticed the beautiful buildings, the people playing handball.
The serious expressions of the New Yorkers as they hustled and bustled to the streets.
And of course my daughter noticed the various fashions.
We even started making up stories of the various people we saw and trying to guess if they
were native New Yorkers or tourists.
And we had a blast.
We made standing in that long line super fun.
We were almost sorry when it was our turn.
Amphasis on almost.
We tore those donuts up.
I think we often get lost in our thoughts and feelings and we find ourselves in a spiral
of stress.
And it's so easy to do but that's why I cherish the basics of mindfulness so much.
Bringing the attention to the present moment and being gentle with yourself.
These basic principles help us to manage strong feelings and prevent that stress spiral
from growing any bigger.
And often all it takes is a simple game of observing what you see in your immediate surroundings.
Okay pausing there for today.
I hope this was all helpful.
I'm good and hungry right now.
I invite you to revisit the basics course in the app and remember to send any questions
or thoughts my way on Instagram at K-Sungle Giscomba.
Looking forward to seeing you back here tomorrow.
Peace.
