Tuesday marks the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
China. General Secretary Xi Jinping of the CPC Central Committee has called for full and rigorous self -governance through good conduct.
Hona has more. Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urges the party to advance full, rigorous self -governance through good conduct.
General Secretary Xi made remarks on Monday at a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
He noted that the eight -point rules to improve work conduct are the party's clear guidelines in self -governance.
The task of advancing Chinese modernization is formidable and the party faces an exceptionally complex covenants environment.
And this marks the eight -point rules necessary to maintain a heightened sense of self -reform.
On the anti -corruption drive, the exercise of power must be well -regulated.
Efforts to address disciplinary and legal violations should be resolute.
Party conduct and discipline must be put into concrete actions.
He called on leading officials at all levels to be responsible for party self -governance.
Party organizations should carry out the eight -point rules education campaign to face problems head -on, ensure thorough implementation of rectifications, and improve mechanism to maintain sound party conduct in the long term.
And the eight -point rules were issued in 2012.
They provided guidelines for the conduct of party officials during research towards meetings and other official duties.
It has improved trust in the party and become the ethos for our party members.

Leaders from foreign political parties and scholars have spoken highly of the CPC's relevance in modern times.
Hungarian Workers' Party President Gyula Tema says the economic and social successes led by the CPC provide Europe with valuable experience which the continent can draw from.
I think that the most important thing we should understand is that a party should be able to change its political line but without changing the main roots, the main ideology.
The Communist Party of China was able to work out, to elaborate the concept of reform and opening, which led to the very great economic and social successes of the contemporary China.
The second moment I think that all the successes of the Communist Party of China, and it's also an experience for us, is connected with the fact that the CPC has always been very close, very closely connected with the people.
The third element, I think I should underline it as a politician who works here in Europe and who used to live earlier in a former socialist country.
I think that the Communist Party of China was able not only to elaborate the concept of socialism, but to defend socialism.
The European parties were not able to defend socialism in Europe, and we are very happy that the Communist Party of China was able to do it.
And now the party has a concept which corresponds to the demands of our contemporary times and the program of modernization, the solution of the basic problems of the Chinese society opens new perspectives.
Xu Amitkan, with the Center for China and Globalization, says the CPC's vision for people -centered development is a unifying alternative to sustainable growth.
She says such a vision chooses a direction that benefits ordinary people.
solutions when it comes to these core challenges that we face and then creating platforms like South South Human Rights Forum, like, you know, many other platforms that are helping developing countries.
And obviously the Belt and Road Initiative with the Global Development Initiative and many multilateral initiatives in different regions.
China is and the party essentially then is pushing for a discourse that is people centric and that is helping countries realize, like other panelists said, there are other paths forward. There are other ways in which we can actually improve the circumstances of our people.
And a strong country doesn't have to be a bully.
It can, and this is something, I mean, honestly, 10 years ago, when I came to China, I wanted to understand what is China's perspective on the world.
China's approach is very different from what the United States has been seen to, you know, lead with.
China's approach has been more about uniting as it is domestically and now globally.
She adds that the world needs to push for leadership that supports the sustainable development goals and brings the focus back to issues like hunger, poverty, gender inequality and climate change instead of blaming each other but proposing no practical solutions.
A CPC member from a county in Sichuan province has been using his camera to bring families closer.
Fan Heqi has taken over 600 family portraits for herding households, capturing memories and delivering warmth, cultural services and care of the party to one of the most remote regions in China.
Wu Yunliu visited the southwestern Chinese county to find out more.
High on the plateau of southwestern China, at over 3 ,000 meters above sea level, one man is helping families capture something they would never have before, a family portrait.
His name is Fan Heqi.
He's not only the deputy director of ABBA Autonomous Prefecture Cultural Centre, but a Communist Party member known among local herders as Brother Fan.
In 2023, I volunteered as a village official in Kujilangua.
I wanted to use my camera to capture moments of happiness, to give each family a lasting memory, often their only family portrait.
portrait, these smiles reflect not only joy, but also the real results of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
Over the past 5 years, so much has changed for the better.
Through more than 600 family portraits, Fan has built deeper bonds with villagers, identifying families in need and helping channel targeted support to improve their lives.
Last spring festival, I visited a family to take their portrait.
The father was seriously ill at the time.
I wanted to leave them with a lasting image.
When we carried out a village -wide support program in March, we identified them as a household in difficulty.
By April, they were officially included in the monitoring list. Just from the subsistence allowance, the family receives around 3 ,000 yuan a month.
On top of that, they were granted 20 ,000 yuan in targeted industry support.
Altogether, it helped ease much of the burden of the father's medical treatment.
I had to borrow about 500 ,000 yuan to treat my father's illness.
Now, with support from the government and village officials, we're in a poverty -relief program and our life feels more secure.
It was our first time taking a proper family photo with several generations together.
I was thrilled that Brother Fan helped us capture it.
Beyond photography, FANT has also helped improve public facilities, securing 200 ,000 yuan in funding to renovate the village activity center and the school library for local students.
We upgraded the entire village activity center and reorganized all the books to make them more accessible.
Now, villagers and students can come here in their free time to read magazines, learn about animal husbandry, or even play Tibetan chess, which is a national -level intangible cultural heritage.
Today, herding families are embracing new hopes.
With new infrastructure and a high -speed rail station under construction, life on the plateau is changing for the better.
Life is getting better for us herders.
Now we're even building a high -speed rail station nearby.
It'll make things more convenient and bring more tourists in the future.
From family portraits to pathways out of poverty, Fan Heji is fulfilling his party mission with sincerity and resolve, capturing not just images, but the trust and smiles of the hurting community.
And across Ruogaigai County, much more party members like him is delivering care and support to the most remote corners of the highlands.

Tuesday also marks the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and its establishment as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The Chinese national flag and the flag of the Hong Kong SAR were raised in a ceremony to mark the occasion.
As Anchen reports, a festive atmosphere fills the city amid celebrations from all walks of life.
I was at the Golden Bohemia Square in Wan Chai District where a flag -raising ceremony was held to kick off the festivities.
It was led by Chief Executive John Lee and he was joined by leaders and representatives from different communities.
The police band performed while a choir from a secondary school sang the national anthem that was followed by a fly -pass and a sea parade performed by discipline services such as the police and fire department.
And after that, the chief executive hosted an indoor reception.
He shared achievements made by his administration over the past three years and outlined his vision for the city's future, including pledging to balance high -quality development and security and addressing livelihood issues, Enhancing the city's economy and competitiveness has been one of the city's focuses.
I also spoke to some representatives of the business community, and they shared that they were very optimistic about the city's economic future.
The chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Keith Brandt, shared that he thinks Hong Kong is making a wonderful return from a challenging few years and that it's exciting to see a much brighter future for Hong Kong in the coming months and years ahead.
Li Cheng Avenue is a popular street for shopping and dining.
Despite rain, it's still quite festive.
There are many flags hung up as part of the decorations, and many people are still here to come and take pictures.
This is just one of many other areas across the city that are decorated to help bring up the festive atmosphere, and to celebrate this occasion, there are also lots of freebies and discounts on offer.
For example, for public transport, all tram rides are free, and some ferry rides are also free, such as the one on the Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai Route.
And for the metro, 71 ,000 e -single journey tickets are being given away through a lucky draw.
Meanwhile, for arts and culture and leisure, museums like the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum are offering free admission for permanent exhibitions, while discounted tickets are offered at Ocean Park, that's a popular theme park, and Nongping 360, that's a cable car ride.
As for dining and consumption, over 4 ,000 restaurants and merchants are offering discounts, Discounts, with many going at 71 percent of the original price, are involving the numbers 7 and 1, and this is a play on the July first digits.
Discounts are also available at public markets like the Aberdeen Market and Lai Wan Market.
And, meanwhile, starting late June till August, as part of the Hong Kong Summer Viva campaign, local businesses are offering various summer -themed dining, shopping attractions, tours and entertainment, deals to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the city.

Research institutes from Hong Kong are joining forces with the mainland's industrial strength and policy support to drive development.

Eric Zhang is the COO of a startup that specializes in what he calls hybrid manufacturing, combining metal 3D printing and precision cutting into a single process.
Zhang explains that this process is faster, more efficient, and delivers better results.
It's ideal for producing or repairing lightweight, complex parts, from energy pipelines to offshore wind turbines.
These structures are much safer in complex oil pipelines because they don't have welding gaps.
The concept originated from Zhang's mentor, Professor Tang Kai, a pioneer in smart manufacturing.
At Hong Kong UST Guangzhou, decades of research are now aligned with real -world industrial demand and production capabilities.
This is essentially an industrial prototype.
Beyond research, we are already prototyping for clients and refining our products.
To ensure optimal performance, we rely on the university's high -end testing facilities, which are equipped with instruments valued at 250 million yuan.
That support is paying off.
In under two years, Zhang's team secured 16 million yuan in venture capital and is now expanding into a 1 ,200 -square -meter factory.
As a Hong Kong mainland partnership, we leverage Hong Kong's systems to streamline commercialization and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on a week -long visit to Europe.
Beijing says the visit will highlight China -Europe ties as an anchor of stability in a world of uncertainty.

China Foreign Minister says Wang Yi's visit is at the invitation of EU foreign policy chief Kaya Callis and the foreign ministers of Germany and France.
It comes as China and the EU mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties against a backdrop of rising global geopolitical uncertainty.
In Brussels, one will first meet Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the country, Maxime Prévost, followed by talks with European Council President Antonio Costa.
It will then co -chair the 13th round of China -EU high -level strategic dialogue In Germany and France, the EU's two largest economies, he will attend the China -Germany Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy and Security and a high -level meeting on People -to -People Exchanges.
China's Foreign Ministry says the visit aims to build trust and lay the political groundwork for future high -level exchanges with EU.
While China and the EU maintain broad areas of cooperation, including a shared commitment to multilateralism and climate action, tensions have been mounting.
The EU imposed additional tariffs on Chinese -made EVs last year over alleged unfair subsidies, while Beijing launched anti -dumping investigations into EU brandy and pork, with the final decisions expected later this year.
But more recently, the EU barred Chinese firms from public procurement of medical devices worth about US $6 billion.
Among the Chinese Commerce Ministry announced announced it would extend anti -dumping duties on some steel products, including those from the EU, for another five years.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has reiterated the EU's approach of de -risking, not de -coupling from China, warning of a new China shock at the recent G7 in Canada.
Meanwhile, Kaya Khalil said the EU needs a dose of realism in dealing with Beijing.
All eyes now are on whether Wang Yi's visit can help ease some of the tensions ahead of the upcoming China -EU summit.

Now it's 21 minutes past the hour, U .S. President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.
Trump has been pushing for a ceasefire and the return of all remaining hostages in Gaza.
The Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister is in Washington this week to prepare for the meeting between Trump and Netanyahu.
The two leaders will focus on Gaza and Syria.
Jonathan Raghav has more from Tel Aviv.
Israeli sources are now saying the meeting at the White House between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu will take place next Monday.
This is the plan. What will be on the agenda?
First and foremost, Gaza.
We know that the American administration is eager to see this war ending.
The administration, President Trump, all of them understand very well that this will demand difficult concessions from Israel.
concessions which Israel has so far refused to do.
But Trump believes that following the successful war with Iran and the support he gave Israel, then that perhaps will give him also the power to put pressure on Israel to accept those terms, terms which will be difficult for Israel.
But if Israel does not accept them, then it will be difficult to see any progress in the negotiations for any ceasefire in Gaza.
This is one issue which will be on the table in the meetings that DERMER is now holding in Washington and in the meetings that Netanyahu will hold possibly next week.
Another issue on the table is the expansion of the Abraham Accords.
As much as Israel and the United States as well would want to see Saudi Arabia joining, it will probably not happen very soon.
Another country, though, that may join is Syria.
We're learning now that the United States is basically taking away the sanctions that it has imposed on Syria.
We know that the two countries did get a little bit closer.
We saw that meeting between President Trump and the Syrian President, Jolani, during the visit of the American president to Saudi Arabia.
And now the lifting of the sanctions on Syria.
It is probably not just a coincidence that this is happening just as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to arrive to Washington.
Things are most probably connected.
As it seems, Syria may be the next country to join the Abraham Accords.
That and Gaza will top the agenda if and when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu really arrives to Washington next week.

Authorities in Gaza say Israeli airstrikes on Monday killed 51 people.
One strike hit a beachside restaurant in the central part of the Strip where journalists often gathered.

We are now on Gaza's port, on Al -Baqa cafeteria on the west of Gaza Strip, where the Israeli airstrikes was targeting people who are trying to get out from the difficult, dangerous situation and run away from the summer heat from their shelters.
At least 30 people were killed and dozens of injured, most of them women and children and journalists.
Suddenly, we heard a loud explosion and started running.
We found people's remains scattered into the sea.
This is a public area where people come to escape the tents and find some relief.
But even in these spaces, they are still targeted.
People come to the beach to relax, play and use the internet.
There are no wanted individuals here.
It's simply a place to unwind.
As you can see, the level of destruction is horrific.
Targeting is continuing moment by moment.
And the Israeli occupation is continuing and it's targeting the displaced people in different parts on this trip.
South in Gaza and north in Gaza, the situation and the destruction everywhere.
The Gazans are living in a catastrophic situation due to the heavy bombardment and intensive airstrikes against them.

The UN Security Council has heard how the US and Israel -backed aid organization may be causing quote -unquote mass casualties.
The accusation came from a British official against the US private contractor Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
It follows new reports of Palestinians being killed while seeking food aid in southern Gaza.
The UK official told the Security Council that over 500 people have been killed while trying to get aid.

The Thai Constitutional Court has suspended Prime Minister Phetongthang Xinhua from duty after accepting a petition seeking her removal from office over a leaked phone call on border issues with Cambodia.
Judges unanimously voted to accept the petition, ordering Phetongthang to stop performing duties as Prime Minister pending a final ruling.
Lin. Patong Tan has faced a protest following the call.
Terarete Yongji Rannon has more from Bangkok.
So it seems as if we're seeing another kind of rerun with what happened with former Prime Minister Seita.
With Patong Tan, what we do know is that the court has unanimously accepted to look at the case.
She has up to 15 days to submit a defense.
The vote was 7 -2 to suspend spent her as prime minister in grounds of violating the law with the leaked audio clip that she had a conversation with the former leader of Cambodia, Hun Sen.
This was said, according to those who filed this case, according to the senators, to be behavioural harmful for the sovereignty and trade interests for the country of Thailand, and it violates ministerial duties.
so we will have to see how the caretaker gaffel forms. She just did a press conference and so she did briefly talk a little bit about what she was planning to do in the future which is basically she is going to take the 15 days that is given to her by the court to gather information to clear her name.
She wants to clear her name to say that what she had done was for the benefit of the country.
Earlier, we had seen that she was going to take a position of culture minister.
We don't know exactly if that's still going to be true.
She did not mention that, but she did say that she is going to perform her duties as a leader as much as she can in whatever position that she is at. She apologized to the Thai people and she says at the end of the day, she's really there to clear her name.

Democratic senators have united against the president's so -called Big Beautiful Bill.
Divisions remain among Republicans concerned about the trillions of dollars it will add to the country's debt.
Result is still unclear after 12 hours of voting.
U .S. President Donald Trump has threatened Japan and other trading partners with steeper tariffs as his 90 -day pause on tariffs nears its end.
Trump said on social media on Monday that Japan was reluctant to import U .S. rice though it was suffering a huge shortage.
He also claimed that the U .S. automobile trade with Japan was unfair.
The Japanese tariff negotiator said the country would defend its national interests, saying Washington's 25 % tariffs on autos would damage Japan significantly.

Regarding the Unified National Market, the meeting highlighted the importance of integrating domestic and foreign trade and facilitating the sale of exports within the domestic market.
For the marine economy, the meeting called for promoting innovation -driven growth, efficient coordination, industrial modernization and a balance between human activities and the marine environment.

China has announced the sanctions against former Philippine Senator Francis Tolentino, barring him from entering the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau.
A foreign ministry spokesperson said the move is in response to what China views as Tolentino's egregious conduct on China's related issues.
Beijing accused a small group of Philippine politicians of making harmful anti -China statements driven by personal interests, warning such actions damage bilateral relations.

The UN Security Council has held a heated session to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza with Palestinian and Israeli officials offering sharply contrasting views.

He described the situation in Gaza as dire.
The level of suffering and brutality in Gaza is unbearable.
The continued collective punishment of the Palestinian people is unjustifiable.
We remain deeply concerned by Israeli military operations in Gaza that render large areas of Gaza uninhabitable.
We reject the forced displacement of the Palestinian population from any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, which would constitute a breach of international law obligations.

The tribunal determined that Glass and the former Secretary of the the Reconstruction Committee misappropriated public funds and failed to address urgent reconstruction needs after a magnitude 67 .8 earthquake killed over 600 people in 2016.
The ruling can be appealed.
Glass lawyer Andres Villegas hit out at the verdict following the sentence.
With this sentence, the last vestige of dignity that remained in the Ecuadorian criminal justice system has been married.

In South Africa, the fate of Nissan's car manufacturing plant is hanging in the balance as the Japanese automaker grapples to save its operations.

Ku Kan, which means hard work in Chinese, was filmed in the late 1930s by U .S. war correspondent Ray Scott and founded by Chinese -American playwright Li Yiling Ai.
It's the first color documentary produced by U .S. nationals to chronicle China's wartime resistance.
Long believed to have been lost after the war, the film was rediscovered in 2009.
A team in Chongqing, southwest China, restored the 83 -minute film using both manual techniques and AI -powered tools.
