A magical world of your daily sounds made just for you and your grown-ups to enjoy some special time together.
I'm Lucy. How are you today? In my first podcast, we listen to all the sounds we can find around us.
There are so many sounds that we hear every day.
Wizzes Pops Toots clangs, hums, buzzes and bumps. quiet ones and loud ones big sounds and small sounds, stretching sounds, and teeny tiny short ones.
Gentle countryside sounds. and noisy street sounds.
Each day is filled with sound And of course, we can make sounds ourselves too.
Did you hear that? I'm blowing air through my lips while keeping them together.
And that makes this sound. Can your grownup make that sound too?
It's time for our sound adventure. Today we are meeting Mia.
Hello Mia. Her mum is taking Mia to the hairdressers for her first haircut.
A hairdresser is a person who helps us take care of our hair.
We go to the hairdresser when our hair needs some care and styling.
They trim our hair to make it look neat.
To cut the hair. The hairdresser needs some of these.
Scissors. Hairdressers have special tools like scissors and combs to make our hair look its best. scissors are good for cutting things like hair, but only grown-ups should use them.
Let's join Mia and her mum on their visit to the hairdresser.
Oh. Oh, yeah. Yay! Okay. Oh. Well done.
It sounds like Mia likes her new haircut.
What a new and exciting adventure. Let's listen again and see if we can name all the sounds.
Mia and her mum are walking on a busy street which has lots of shops.
They are on their way to the hairdressers.
Hello, Mia. They arrive at the hairdressers and Mia's mum opens the door.
The shop doorbell pings. There are lots of people in the hairdressers.
Two ladies sit in special chairs in front of mirrors.
Mum sits mere in the hairdresser's chair.
The hairdresser moves the chair up by pushing a handle with her foot.
The hairdresser puts a cape around me as shoulders.
The cape looks a bit like a superhero cape.
This special cape stops you from getting all messy during your haircut.
The hairdresser uses a water bottle spray to gently spray a little bit of water on Mia's hair.
This makes it easier to cut. Mia's hair is gently brushed before it is cut.
The hairdresser uses scissors to carefully cut Mia's hair.
Don't worry, cutting hair doesn't hurt one bit.
The hairdresser brushes some of the hairs off the cape.
A few more snips with the scissors and the haircut is finished.
The hairdryer blows Mia's hair all dry and all the little bits of cut hair blow away.
The hairdryer is quite noisy. The hairdresser brushes Mia's hair one final time.
Mia looks very smart with her shorter hair.
The hairdresser lowers the chair and Mia's mum helps Mia climb down.
The hairdresser presses some buttons on her cash register and mum pays for the haircut.
Mia and her mum leave the shop to go home.
What an exciting adventure. Sometimes it can be a bit scary to do something new.
But going to the hairdresser can be a fun experience and it helps us keep our hair healthy and happy.
Thanks Mia for sharing your haircut sounds with us today.
