📋 Summary

The Tale of Snow White: A Journey of Jealousy, Resilience, and Transformation

The Origin of Jealousy

The story begins with a queen’s wish for a child with "skin as white as snow, hair as black as the wood of this window frame and lips as red as blood." Following the birth of Snow White and the subsequent death of her mother, the king remarries a proud and beautiful woman. This new queen relies on a "magic mirror" to validate her status as the "fairest of them all." However, as Snow White matures, her natural beauty begins to surpass the queen's, inciting a deep-seated jealousy that drives the queen to attempt to eliminate the young girl.

The Hunter’s Mercy and the Sanctuary of the Dwarfs

Driven by envy, the queen orders the kingdom’s best hunter to kill Snow White in the forest. Unable to harm the "beautiful and charming" girl, the hunter spares her life, urging her to flee. Lost and frightened, Snow White discovers a "little cottage" belonging to seven dwarfs who work as "miners of minerals." Upon their return, the dwarfs find Snow White asleep and, moved by her story of the "wicked stepmother," offer her shelter in exchange for her help around the house. They provide her with a safe haven, though they wisely warn her not to let anyone inside.

The Queen’s Deceptive Attempts

Despite the safety provided by the dwarfs, the magic mirror reveals to the queen that Snow White is still alive. The queen, fueled by rage, employs multiple disguises to reach the girl. Her first attempt involves a "pretty lace top" tied so tightly it causes Snow White to stop breathing, though the dwarfs manage to revive her. Undeterred, the queen resorts to a more sinister plot: creating a "magic apple" that is "crispy and red" on the outside but lethal upon the first bite. Disguised as a "poor peasant woman," the queen manipulates Snow White into taking a bite, leading the girl to fall as if she were dead. This time, the dwarfs are unable to reverse the spell, and mourning her loss, they place her in a "glass coffin" on a mountain, keeping watch over her.

Redemption and Happily Ever After

The narrative takes a turn when a prince discovers the glass coffin. Struck by her beauty, he begs the dwarfs to let him take her, promising to "love and cherish her." During the transport of the coffin, the men stumble, dislodging the piece of poisoned apple from Snow White’s throat, which brings her back to life. Having escaped the reach of her wicked stepmother, Snow White is reunited with the dwarfs and eventually accepts the prince’s proposal. The story concludes with the couple finding safety and happiness, far removed from the queen's malice, marking a definitive end to the cycle of jealousy and persecution.
