Ella utilizes a suite of sensors, including five cameras, to perform object detection. Much like advanced driver-assist systems in modern vehicles, the stroller is "aware of the environment at all times." It can detect obstacles, such as bikes or skateboards, and either alert the parent or, in hands-free mode, autonomously avoid them.

Challenges and Future Outlook

Building an AI-driven product from scratch was a steep learning curve for the founders, whose backgrounds were in neuroscience and management consulting rather than computer vision. The process involved significant "trial and error," particularly in training AI models to recognize diverse environments.
