The G20 summit wrapped up its first day in Rio de Janeiro, with leaders launching the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
Chinese president Xi Jinping said China's achievements in poverty alleviation have given other developing countries the confidence to strive for the same goal.
President Xi stressed that China will always be a member of the global self and a reliable and long -term partner of developing countries.
He also outlined China's eight action plans for global development, which include pursuing high -quality Belt and Road cooperation, supporting practical cooperation for the benefit of the global self and expanding unilateral opening up for the least developed countries.

Calling for more bridges of cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered speeches about world hunger and government reform on the first day of the G20 Leader Summit on Monday.
I have worked in China's villages, counties, cities, provinces and the central government.
Poverty alleviation has been an important part of my work and a major issue that I aspire to solve.
China's journey out of poverty has shown that with resilience and perseverance, the issue of poverty in developing countries can be solved and that the weak birds can fly early and so high.
If China can make it, other developing countries can make it too.
This is a global significance of China's success in winning the battle against poverty.
President Xi told the gathering in Rio, China will always be a member of the global south, a reliable long -term partner of fellow developing countries and a doer and go -getter working for the cost of global development.
With the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, President Xi announced China's participation and outlined China's eight actions for global development.
These eight actions include pursuing high -quality Belt and Road cooperation, implementation of the Global Development Initiative, supporting development in Africa, supporting international cooperation on poverty reduction and food security, proposing the Initiative on International Cooperation in Open
Science to help the global south with Brazil, South Africa and African Union, supporting the G20 in Anti -Corruption Action Plan, and open doors wider to the least developed countries.
The steps include a financial commitment of 80 billion yuan, around 11 billion U .S.
dollars in the SIGRO fund, and nearly 360 billion yuan, which it is about 50 billion U .S.
dollars to support African development.
President Xi said, China is ready to take steps together with all parties to build a just world of common development, leave poverty in the past, and turn our vision into reality.

On day one at the G20 Rio summit, the Chinese president also called for joint efforts to build a fair and equitable global governance system.
He warned against politicizing economic issues, fragmenting the global market, and taking protectionist moves in the name of green and low carbon development.
He also said, global development should be more inclusive, beneficial to all, and more resilient.

The Chinese president highlighted two documents adopted at the 2016 G20 summit in China's city of Hangzhou.
There are the G20 action plan on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the G20 initiative on supporting industrialization in Africa and least developed countries.
This year's summit focuses on building a just world and a sustainable planet.
As the host country, Brazil has placed fighting hunger and poverty at the top of the agenda.
It's announced to establish the global alliance against hunger and poverty.
Xi Jinping stressed the same goal from the Hangzhou summit to the Rio summit is to build a just world of common development.
President Xi said China's achievements in poverty alleviation have given other developing countries the confidence to strive for the same goal.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed that China, as a member of the global south, will always be a reliable long -term partner of developing countries and work for the cause of global development.

Foreign observers have reacted positively towards the Chinese president's speech at the G20 summit.
Many of them say China's action plans for global development will be conducive to the global south.
I mean, because China's self -identity as a country is still as a global south country, right?
China sees itself as a leader of the global south and I think it's really important that the relationship that China has established with African countries in particular over the last maybe 20 -25 years, those investment relationships are really significant in terms of supporting China's own transformation but also in terms
of transforming local economies in Africa as well.
And it seems to me that that commitment to sharing the benefits of a kind of increasingly Chinese -led globalization is really significant.
And for more, Gao Yim spoke with Rong Ying, senior research fellow at the China Institute for International Studies.
Mr Rong, what would you say is China's role in global poverty alleviation and which of its experiences can be applied to other countries?
Well, China certainly has been the most important, one of the most important contributor to the global efforts for fighting poverty.
That has been certainly very much important.
But I think increasingly we're going to see that China's experience, China's – that has been shared and transferred to developing countries and Africa in particular are going to both play more and more important role.
This is, of course, very much evident in the sense that China for the past decades has successfully lifted over 800 million Chinese out of poverty.
And by doing – in so doing it certainly has a lot of experience to share.
The most important thing is, of course, in addition to the concept or the thinking of taking people at first, which is very much important politically, I think the effectiveness, the role of the government at various level is very much important.
Last but not least, I think the experience in terms of bringing more light or more targeted to the localities of different communities or different countries are also very much important.
So, all in all, there are a lot to share and certainly there are a lot to exchange.
That was Rong Ying with the China Institute for International Studies talking about China's to promote the development of the global south.
The Chinese presidents held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Rio Summit, while meeting Mexican President Claudia Scheinbaum.
Xi Jinping called on the two sides to continuously enhance exchanges, renew friendship, and make their economies more complementary to each other.
He said China is ready to work with Mexico to uphold multilateralism and international fairness and justice.
Scheinbaum said Mexico is willing to work with China to explore potential opportunities while further expanding cooperation in various fields, meeting British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
President Xi said China and Britain must shoulder the task of promoting their respective national development and bear the responsibility of addressing global challenges.
He said the two countries have a large potential for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and clean energy, and they should promote political settlement of hotspot issues.
Starmer said Britain and China share common interests and shoulder the responsibility for solving global challenges and maintaining world peace and development.
The Chinese leader also held a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
He said bilateral relations had achieved a turnaround and are maintaining a positive momentum of development.
Albanese said Australia does not want to decouple from China and he's willing to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as energy transformation and climate change.
Under Brazil's presidency, the G20 launched a global alliance against hunger and poverty at its first session.
The second session focused on the reform of global institutions.
The final session of the event will focus on sustainable development and energy transition.

Hosts Brazil laid out an ambitious agenda for the G20 Leader Summit in Rio on day one.
Leaders from across the world from powerful economies descended on Rio to gather for day one of this summit, to the backdrop of the imminent change in the presidency in the United States.
The question being, what agreements can be found at this summit and can they stay in place?
It's the last G20 for the U .S.
President Joe Biden, the first summit for Latin American leaders, Claudia Scheinbaum of Mexico or Argentina's libertarian President Javier Mille.
The challenge then for leaders at this G20 is to find these broad agreements and to move forward on those political commitments.
The first session of the day saw Lula Ignacio da Silva, the Brazil President, launch the global alliance to combat poverty and hunger.
This issue is at the heart of the proposals made by the host of Brazil.
The afternoon session focused on the reform of global governance and how multilateral organizations respond to modern day demands.
Brazil President Lula Silva proposing a wealth tax to fund social and environmental initiatives.
Final session will focus on sustainable development and energy transition.
Flurry of activity, intense meetings and discussions in Rio at this G20 ahead of the final declaration.
The wording of which, the phrasing of that final declaration will be the test and the proof of the success of the G20 in Rio.

Latin America is in the spotlight with Brazil hosting the G20.
The region's home to two of the world's largest economies in this position to make its voice heard at the global meeting.
Alistair Baverstock reports.
As nations meet for the G20 Leaders Summit in Latin America, three countries from the region present at the summit, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, making up more than two -thirds of Latin America's total $7 trillion GDP.
Juan Ramón Jimenez is a former economist at the Bank of Mexico.
Latin America is growing at around 1 % and its three largest economies are stable when it comes to macroeconomy.
G20 hosts Brazil, the biggest economy in Latin America and the world's seventh largest at $2 .4 trillion is globally vital, according to agri -business analyst Ignacio Bringas.
Within the G20, Brazil's economy has very solid agricultural foundations boosted by its growing fossil fuel exports.
By aligning its economic policies with global sustainability and trade goals, the country can play a vital role in international policy.
Neighbouring Argentina will be the only G20 economy to have contracted since last year's summit, given the austerity measures of President Javier Mille.
Yet Jimenez says that may be cause for optimism.
During this stage of Mille's leadership there is a contraction, but that will attract international capital because investors are seeing the cleanup that is occurring within the public sector finances and the president's project should be given the benefit of the doubt.
In a new era of North American free trade, Mexico has received record levels of foreign direct investment in recent years.
Yet as the country's current government improves its industrial infrastructure to serve investors, its debt grows, a concern for economists.
While the peso is stable, that is more because of international trade and investment than good government economic policy.
That's leading to greater amounts of international debt and less purchasing power within the actual economy.
With Latin America represented in Brazil, a region making up less than a tenth of the global economy may have a perfect platform to make its voice heard.

At 15 past the hour, foreign affairs ministers of the European Union have gathered in Brussels to discuss the Ukraine issue, including U .S.
President Joe Biden's decision to allow Kiev to deploy long -range American weapons for strikes inside Russia.
EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borl confirmed that Ukraine's received U .S.
permission to strike up to 300 kilometers into Russian territory.
German Chancellor Olav Schulz reiterated his decision not to give Ukraine Taurus long -range missiles.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Ciarto described Washington's decision as an extremely dangerous step.
First of all, it is an incredibly dangerous decision to allow the use of weapons provided to Ukraine by NATO member states in areas deep inside Russia.
This is an incredibly dangerous decision because there is extremely grave danger of war escalating further and there is the demand of the Ukrainians and the permissive opinion of some NATO member countries regarding the invitation of Ukraine to NATO.
This clearly would bring the real threat of World War Three very close.
In the meantime, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Feits also voiced opposition to Ukraine's use of U .S.
long -range missiles to strike inside Russia, calling it an unprecedented escalation of tensions.
Russia says it will make an appropriate and tangible response if Ukraine uses long -range missiles provided by the United States.
A foreign ministry statement says such an attack inside Russian territory would represent the direct involvement of the U .S.
and its allies in hostilities against Russia.
U .S. officials say President Joe Biden's authorized Ukraine to use long -range American weapons inside Russia.
The move marks a significant policy shift in Washington as the Russia -Ukraine conflict enters its 1000th day on Tuesday, Dasha Chernyshova reports.
At least one senior official in the Russian parliament said permitting Ukraine to use American missiles to strike deep into Russian territory could lead to World War Three.
Pescov stressed that such a decision by the outgoing administration in Washington is an escalation that adds fuel to the fire.
Pescov also said that Russian position had already been clearly stated by Vladimir Putin.
The Russian leader had said that any such decision would change the nature of the conflict and constitute direct Western involvement.
In September, Moscow changed its nuclear doctrine, explaining that support for a non -nuclear state via nuclear one would be seen as participation in an attack on Russia.
Meanwhile, Russian officials say they doubt the decision will have any impact on the course of the special operation.
The head of Russia's State General Defense Committee Andrey Karpov stressed that Russian air defense systems can very effectively operate against all types of Western long -range ammunition.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin says the option of freezing the Ukrainian conflict along the lines of military confrontation is unacceptable for Russia.

The current Russia -Ukraine conflict began on February 24, 2022, when Russian military forces entered Ukraine from several directions.
The conflict came after eight years of hostilities in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian government forces and local militias.
Soon after the outbreak of the conflict, Russia and Ukraine tried to hold peace talks, but they ended without success.
UN officials estimate the 1 ,000 -day conflict has killed at least 12 ,000 civilians and wounded 26 ,000 others.
A repair ship is departed from France to fix the damaged submarine cable between Finland and Germany.
According to the data transmission company, the repair involves raising the cable from the seabed and conducting the work aboard the ship.
The operation will take between five and 15 days.
The cause of the damage is under investigation.
Despite the cable malfunction, major Finnish telecommunications companies said that customers may not notice any disruption as communications are continuing via alternate routes.
The out -of -service cable spans over 1 ,000 kilometers, connecting data hubs in central Europe with Finland and other Nordic countries and Asia.
UN Secretary General Antoni Guterres has called for an immediate ceasefire in the establishment of a nuclear weapons -free zone in the Middle East.
Guterres made the plea at the fifth session of the conference on the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
Guterres said the idea of such a zone stretches back decades but with regional conflicts raging and tensions reaching a boiling point.
This goal is becoming more urgent by the day.
The UN chief also says for over a year, Guterres experienced a nonstop nightmare that threatens to engulf the entire region and that people are alarmed at the escalation in Lebanon.
He added that a zone in the Middle East would represent an important step toward achieving the goal of a world free of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.
Lebanon and his beloved agreed to a US -proposed ceasefire with Israel, barring some outstanding issues that still need to be worked out.
An aide to Lebanese parliament speaker Nabi Barry says White House envoy Amos Hochstein is headed to Beirut to continue talks.
Israel is yet to comment on its stance.
Jonathan Regev has more from Tel Aviv.
What seems to have happened is there's an American draft resolution drafted with Israel and presented to Lebanon and to Hezbollah.
They may be in the same place, but there are practically two different entities, the state of Lebanon and Hezbollah.
And the response was practically positive, mostly positive, let's put it this way, from both sides.
As far as we understand, the main point of contention is the freedom that Israel is asking to have in southern Lebanon, if the proposed agreement if it fails, if there are some intrusions into that agreement.
This is something that Israel is asking for freedom of operations in southern Lebanon.
If the agreement is broken, that is something that Hezbollah is unable to agree to, according to the answer, which was presented by Nabi Barry, who is the head of the Lebanese parliament and with very close ties to Hezbollah.
According to him, this is the main point of contention.
And the Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati saying that there's no way that the state of Lebanon will agree to any kind of a formula that will allow the Israeli army back at any time that Israel would decide.
Into Lebanon, Mikati adding that the only power, the only legal power that should have weapons in southern Lebanon is the Lebanese army, not Hezbollah.
And clearly, according to Mikati, not the Israeli army, despite all of that, there seems to be an optimism in Lebanon that an agreement can be reached.
We know that the US envoy, Amos Ochstein, who is the envoy of the current administration, but is also in talks with the coming administration, the Trump administration.
He's set to arrive in Lebanon for discussions.
Things seem to be progressing.
It doesn't mean that we will see an agreement today, tomorrow or even next week.
But discussions are ongoing and there seems to be some progress for a ceasefire resolution, which may eventually come in the coming weeks.

United Kingdom has told the UN Security Council that the international community has failed to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lemme expressed concerns over the situation in Gaza.
The situation in northern Gaza is a nightmare of disease, destruction and despair.
Over 300 aid workers have now been killed.
It's the highest number in UN history.
Amongst them are three British nationals whose families yearn for justice.
More children have been killed in any recent conflict anywhere in the world.
Palestinian Ambassador Riyadh Mansour highlighted the devastation faced by Palestinians and urged the Security Council to take action to end the war.
US Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield emphasized the need to prevent a mass from regaining power.
The Sudanese governments expressed willingness to resolve the country's conflict and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches affected populations.
During a meeting with US envoy for Sudan, Tom Pareo, Sudanese Army General Abdel Fattah al -Birhan, rejected the transfer of weapons to the rapid support forces via a border crossing with Chad.
The governments extended the opening of the Adri crossing for three months to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery.
The two sides discussed the road map and political process to end the war and provide aid.
Pareo affirmed that the US would continue working with Sudan to ensure access to food, water, and medicine for its people.

In less than a month, six typhoons have battered the Philippines, leaving catastrophic devastation.
In early October, tropical storm Trami and Typhoon Kong Ray triggered deadly floods and landslides, claiming 162 lives.
Typhoon skin -sing, toraji and usagi followed, wreaking havoc across provinces.
In just last Sunday, millions were forced to evacuate as super typhoon Mani unleashed powerful winds and massive tidal surges, compounding the crisis for already struggling communities.
Aside from the damage to infrastructure, the agricultural sector suffered the most.
This farmland in Cagayan province was littered with debris from extreme flooding.
In the town of Fami in Laguna province, which is three hours away from capital Manila, farmers have lost their livelihood.
Farmers were just days away from harvest when a string of powerful typhoons hit, leaving crops waterlogged and in many areas, completely destroyed.
Now, instead of reaping a full season's yield, farmers now face a devastating loss, not only of their harvest, but also of their income, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the months ahead.
Ericsson Metallag was set to harvest around 200 sacks of rice from his two hectare field.
But heavy rains and strong winds from recent typhoons left his farmland flooded, destroying his crop.
I can't salvage anything here because the grains have rotted and it pains me.
I can't even use them as animal feed because all of them are rotten.
The Philippine government has pledged support for affected farmers.
The Agriculture Department is rolling out financial aid.
The extensive damage to farmland has steepened the country's rice shortage.
Unfortunately, I have just received a report from the Agriculture Department and it's likely that we have to import more rice.
We will import close to four and a half million stones.
The recent series of typhoons have intensified pressure on the Philippines representatives at the UN Climate Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Environmentalists and civil society groups at COP 29 are calling for an immediate release and expansion of the loss and damage fund to support vulnerable nations grappling with the climate emergency.
On the sidelines of the climate conference, the Philippines formalized its hosting of the loss and damage fund board by signing the host country agreement.
The environment ministry says the country could serve as a test case for the fund, aiding communities in recovering from the climate crisis.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the needs for BRICS countries to enhance the influence of the Global South and play a greater role in promoting multi -polarity.
Wang was speaking during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Rio de Janeiro.
He urged both sides to further strengthen coordination to contribute to the development of their countries and the reform of global governance.
As China has taken the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Wang pledged joint efforts with Russia to elevate the SEO to a new level of development.
Also in the Brazilian city, the Chinese Foreign Minister met his Indian counterpart Subra Manyam Jai Shankar.
Wang said as two major developing countries and neighbours, the common interests of China and India far outweigh their differences.
He also called on the two sides to strengthen coordination on international affairs.
The UN Aid Agency for Palestinians, or UNRUP, has said that a UN convoy of more than 100 trucks carrying food supplies was violently looted after entering Gaza with 97 trucks lost.
Eyewitnesses said that mass men forced the drivers at gunpoint to unload the aid.
UNRUP Commissioner General Felipe Lazarini warned of the collapse of civil order in Gaza.
I confirm indeed that there have been a looting.
More than 100 trucks have been looted, primarily UNRUP and the Dubai F .P.
Basically, 80 -90 percent of the convoy on that day.
What does it show? Well, we have been warning a long time ago about the total breakdown of civil order until you know four or five months ago.
We still had local capacity.
People who were escorting the convoy, this has completely gone.
The UN agency added that many UN -supported bakeries in the region have shut down because of a critical shortage of flour.
European Union foreign ministers have rejected a proposal to suspend political dialogue with Israel over concerns about human rights abuses and violations of international law in its war against Hamas.
EU foreign policy chief Joseph Boral put the proposal to the ministers from the 27 member countries at a meeting in Brussels.
Boral confirmed the rejection of his proposal.
Most of the member states considered it that it was much better to continue having diplomatic and political relationship with Israel, so the decision was not taken into consideration, as expected.
But at least they put on the table all the information produced by United Nations organizations and every international organization working in Gaza and the West Bank and Lebanon in order to judge the way the war is being waged.
The proposal is based on an association agreement that governs relations between the EU and Israel.
The Lebanese Prime Minister says his country's response to a US ceasefire proposal is positive despite the fact that some points still need discussion.
According to Najib Mkhadi, the primary focus is the implementation of Resolution 1701 and Lebanon's committed to implementing it.
Resolution 1701 ended the last round of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006 and stipulated that southern Lebanon must be free of arms that do not belong to the Lebanese state.
A top Iranian maritime official has strongly condemned the recent British and EU sanctions on Iran's shipping sector over its alleged transfer of missiles and drones to Russia.
The Portson Maritime Organization of Iran says Islamic Republic of Iran's shipping lines is a commercial institution that carries commercial goods from Iran and other countries.
The organization says the accusations by the EU and Britain are completely baseless and the Europeans are repeating the US behavior of imposing sanctions.
An Asian Development Bank report has urged governments in Asia and the Pacific to prioritize investment in education to develop climate literacy and green skills for low -carbon economies.
The report stressed the need for schools to adapt the impacts of climate change, noting that extreme weather is increasing school closures and affecting learning outcomes and household incomes over the long term.
ADB Director Ramesh Subramaniam said that education systems should be climate ready at all levels, including curriculum, design, infrastructure and teacher training.
The report called for actions to improve environmental awareness among children and build sustainable expertise for the workforce.

5%. The Commission says, looking ahead to next year, there are many favorable conditions and supporting factors, but the country's continued economic development.

Yes, Hong Kong is hosting the third annual Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit.
The three -day event brings together several hundred financial leaders, including senior Chinese officials and heads of major global banks.
The main summit is still ongoing.
Right now, China's Vice Premier He Li Feng gave the opening keynote speech.
He said that Hong Kong's status as an international financial center will be more prominent and solid, and central authorities are stepping up work to improve policy for this development.
For example, authorities will support more quality enterprises to list and issue bonds in Hong Kong, as well as continue to expand mutual market access between the mainland and Hong Kong in areas such as stock on financial management, interest rate swaps.
He mentioned that authorities will also improve the mechanism for the regular issuance of treasury bonds, steadily upscale the issuance in Hong Kong, and support Hong Kong in consolidating its position as a global offshore R &B hub.
That's not all. Meanwhile, the Vice Premier gave three suggestions for Hong Kong.

And the third was to further dovetail with the national development strategy and strengthen the foundation of Hong Kong's financial development, adding that Hong Kong is the country's link to the outside world and the country is the rock to Hong Kong's financial development.
And as the country's progresses towards high -quality development, Hong Kong's strategic position will become more prominent.
Now, the Vice Premier also said authorities will do its utmost to support Hong Kong to take forward financial reform and development and safeguard financial stability and security.
And there was also a discussion panel on mainland financial development that included the head of the National Financial Regulatory Administration, Li Yunze, China's Securities Regulatory Commission, Chairman Wuxing and Deputy Governor of the Bank of China, Zhu Huesing.

China reported a rapid increase in auto trade -ins thanks to policy support designed to benefit consumers.
Ministry of Commerce says it's received over 4 million subsidy applications for trade -ins of passenger vehicles as of Monday under a mass renewal program initiated early this year.
Currently, people trading in an old car for a new energy vehicle are entitled to a US $20 ,000 subsidy over US $2700 while those buying a regular fuel car will get US $1500.
The policy has stimulated the auto market.
Last month, the country's auto sales rose 7 % from a year earlier to 3 million units.
In the first 10 months, auto sales nationwide surpassed 24 million units.
The auto trade -in subsidies are part of a national program aimed at expanding domestic demand and shoring up the economy through equipment upgrades and consumer goods trade -ins.
China -Europe freight train loaded with goods including products for daily use, automotive parts, machinery and equipment is headed for Madrid.
The train departed from Iwu in East China on Monday and is expected to arrive in Madrid within 16 -18 days.
Monday marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of that route.
Over the past decade, more than 6 ,700 China -Europe freight trains have left from Iwu transporting over 670 ,000 containers of cargo.
Tong -Jian Li, deputy director of the Iwu sales department of Hangzhou Railway Logistics Centre, said the route's seen a huge increase in trains and cargo delivery.
China -Europe freight trains leaving from Iwu have increased from only 23 trains per year to over 1 ,100 per year.
The total annual cargo value has risen from $92 million to over $2 .6 billion.
So far, the China -Europe freight train service has connected Iwu with more than 160 cities in 50 countries and regions across Asia and Europe.

The series will broadcast on Abu Dhabi TV in the UAE and the Al Arabiya channel in Saudi Arabia.
In September, the Charming Beijing series invited production teams from Abu Dhabi TV and Al Arabiya to Beijing.

A cave at the Yuenguang Grottos in northern China has reopened to the public following 21 months of conservation work.

We first conducted a systematic condition survey of cave number 10 and found 806 areas of damage within the 886 square meters of the cave.
We created independent records for these damaged sites and developed corresponding maintenance plans.
Through three months of maintenance and repair, along with nearly six months of outcome tracking, we ultimately achieved effective protection.
In 2001, UNESCO added the Grottos to its World Heritage list.
It's home to 45 main caves and over 59 ,000 statues.
As part of its ongoing preservation efforts, the Yuenguang Grottos are undergoing a digital transformation with the use of 3D scanning technology to create digital models of the caves and their significant relics.
