to the AdesEnglish podcast. My name is Jack and I'm here with my cohost, Sochul.
And today, Sochul, I have prepared two more hypotheticals, or we call them second conditionals in grammar. And, yeah, so the first one is if you could eat only one food for the rest of your life what food would it be you know my answer Jack I'm almost sure you know my answer it's a mole de jolla yeah which is something that my grandfather used to make sadly he passed away I do have his recipe though it's a it's a Mexican stew made with beef like meat and bones and chili and potatoes and onions and everything like there's tons of stuff zucchini potatoes onions carrots cilantro you put like I have tons
of stuff it's and it's super delicious and really good for you and I honestly think I would probably live a long time eating it like I did it sounds like you could make like one big old like pot of it and just eat the whole for the whole week you know Sunday would be your day to make it and then you just eat it the rest of the week.
Yeah. And I think I would be like pretty nutritionally sound like it might be a lot of red meat, but like, you could just put like more bones and stuff in it some days.
And honestly, I think I would live a long time if I just ate that.
It's all like whole foods.
You know, every time you, you describe that dish, I started start salivating.
like it sounds so good alright I'm gonna my answer is really strange because I've never eaten this before but I think this is what I want to eat the rest of my life is Malaysian dish or Indonesian dish called nasi fadan and I've heard it described to me it's like it's basically rice with like some meat and some seasoning and just a lot of, similar to yours, it's got a lot of different ingredients in it.
And it kinda covers all of the vegetables, protein and carbs, you know?
Like it's gets the nice combination of all those things.
Now, this is a huge gamble because it's like, who would choose their food forever food to be a food you've never had before.
But from listening to the description of it and seeing pictures of it and, and talking to people, uh, from Malaysia and from Indonesia.
There's two, there's there, it's a very similar, it's almost the same dish in each country.
Um, I think that is my forever food.
So our listeners out there, uh, let me know if I'm just totally crazy for, for choosing it because otherwise I'd have to choose like pizza or hamburgers or something like that.
It's not that, that would get horrible after, you know, like three days two days maybe yeah you'd be you'd start feeling bad yeah you'll be dead within a month you know let's be honest you just honestly you just die yeah all right um let's go to number two let's do our second one um if you were invisible for a day what would you do i'm like Jack, this is so interesting.
What would I do if I were invisible?
Do you wanna go first?
Do you have an idea?
Yeah, sure. I thought about this for a little while after I read this one.
At first I thought I would love to...
I would try to go and hear what other people think about, really think about me.
And then I realized that I don't wanna know that information you know what I mean yeah yeah also you're like violating their consent yeah that's true, that's true it's absolutely unethical but also it's it's like be careful what you wish for you know what I mean like it yeah like do you really want to know what people say behind your back, you know like maybe sometimes ignorance is bliss we say in English so then I thought you know I just spend the whole day just messing with my wife so like she would like sit down and watch TV and then I would just move the remote control you know like a little
bit like a couple of feet over and and then she'd be like what the remote was right next to me and then you know she'd be like eating and then she looks at her phone and I would move her fork you know to the other side of the table and I think that would be just entertaining for the whole day like that would just be hilarious.
So you'd just be like gassulating your wife the whole day?
I would just be gaslighting my wife the whole day with just like move.
I'd move furniture, move little, I don't know how I feel about.
I feel about this information before.
Why? Move her iPad, you know, to like another chair and be like, no, you could've gone the other way and made her life easier the whole day.
There's the, where's the fun in that.
Right, true. Well, what would I want to do?
I think similar to you, like I kind of wanted to go around and hear people.
I feel like that's the first instinct, like it's just very human nature though, like it's like you want to know like the true true truth or something but people are super multifaceted and even like things I say behind your back might not be like how they feel about you 100 % you know.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
So, yeah it's better not to know.
I think I would want to go like to the library and just like walk around and look at like books and and go grocery shopping I mean it would be hard because you couldn't really check anything out I guess that'd be a lot of like floating apples and yes we can't really do that I guess and maybe you could surreptitiously try to use a self checkout but it would be kind of inconvenient so I don't know I think I would just want to do stuff that I normally can't do like invisibly like just live my everyday but just not have interact with people.
You know? Be like completely anonymous for the day.
Like more than anyone has ever been, you know?
Just like, yeah. It's like the world is yours.
It's like your whole private world, basically.
Like I even thought like I could get on amusement park rides and skip lines.
Although, they might end up trying to make someone sit on you.
So you'd have to go and pick somebody.
Yeah, someone sit on your lap.
Like, oh this chair is broken.
Yeah. I'm sorry. Yeah, so that might kind of ruin the plan.
but I think it would be fun like you could skip a bunch of lines at an amusement park theoretically or just like go on.
I don't know so I think it'd be kind of fun.
Yeah. Yeah. Like maybe you could like wait and you could ride it after hours or something.
Yeah. Yeah actually you need two invisible people to do that.
I think. Yeah one person.
Yeah you don't want to turn it on jump on the ride and then you just on a roller coaster for 24 hours but yeah until you go off of being invisible.
So, yeah, I don't know, it's not something.
So I think it would just be like fun to be completely invisible and anonymous, and not have anyone look at you and like perceive you because every time someone looks at you, they perceive you and they make judgments about you based on what you look like like what you wear, and your skin, and how old you are, and whether you're a woman or a man, like all of it has some kind of effect on how people perceive you.
So I think it'd be really cool to just not be perceived for 24 hours.
Yeah, that's interesting.
Because it's like, you know, most people are, you know, are, are feel on scene already these days, you know.
But, but it's interesting to be like, put a positive spin on like, being on scene, you know, like, like choosing to be on scene.
I think it flips like the power dynamic, because a lot of people are like made invisible but if you can choose to be unseen it's different, it's like different.
Yeah right you have the power, yeah the power dynamic is different, that's a good point yeah.
