Easy English expression rehashed.
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Coach Shane here, E-Cube number 323.
Today's expression is perfect.
You guys are listening to my E-Cube podcast, right?
And that's great, you're learning some English.
But this is only the beginning.
If you're serious about learning English, you need to use it.
And you need to use it in an environment where somebody's listening to you and checking your English.
That's my community.
Yeah.
So this is a great podcast.
Thank you so much for listening.
Please tell your friends.
But remember, this is just a what.
Enjoy the podcast.
Let's go back in time.
Today i've got an excellent expression for you.
It is stepping stone.
You can use me as a stepping stone.
I need a stepping stone.
What is a stepping stone?
Well, you have to imagine this.
There is a stream or a river, but it's not a big river.
It's a small river.
It's a shallow river, not deep.
It's a stream.
And you want to walk across the stream.
Well, it's not dangerous.
You could do it, but your shoes would get wet.
So what you can do is, if you can find some big stones, you can put them in the water and each step you could have another stone and you could walk across the stream without getting wet.
Those stones are stepping stones.
Stepping stones assist you to be successful.
They help you achieve something.
You have a goal to get from this side of the stream to the other side, but you want to get there dry.
And the stepping stones will assist you.
They will help you in achieving your goal.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
So what kind of goals do you have?
Me, one of my goals is to become an excellent cook.
Oh boy, I would love to be a great cook.
I would love to cook all of my food all naturally and stuff like that.
That's what I want to do.
So what I do is I did buy a cooking book and I search online for recipes and And I study.
In my spare time I study about nutrition.
All of these steps together are helping me achieve my goal of becoming a very good cook with natural ingredients.
Each of those, the cookbook, the internet websites, the recipes...
The nutrition classes, those are stepping stones, and they are helping me achieve my goal.
It's going to take me 10 more years, maybe, but I'm going there.
So once again, what kind of a goal do you have?
Let's listen to the dialogue.
I'm thinking about joining DDM.
Great.
Have you tried DD?
No.
What's that?
Oh, it's the perfect stepping stone to DDM.
Absolutely.
Have you guys heard me talk about my class DDM?
Yep.
Well, do you know about DD?
Yeah, DDM is the class I always talk about, but there's DD2.
DD stands for Daily Dictation.
And if you go to www.youtube.com slash Daily Dictation, D-A-I-L-Y-D-I-C-T-A-T-I-O-N, Daily Dictation.
If you go there, you can see that I have over 260 lessons for free.
They're absolutely excellent lessons and they're all for free.
And DD is like a miniature, a tiny version of DDM.
In DD, we study one sentence, maybe two sentences.
In DDM, we study the entire story.
So DD is like 10 seconds long.
DDM, oh, it goes on forever.
It can be up to three minutes.
I'm talking about the assignment.
The assignment is about 10 seconds, but in DDM, about two to three minutes.
They're great classes.
So if you're interested in DDM, if you do want to take DDM, have you tried DD?
I absolutely recommend all of you try DD because it's the perfect stepping stone to DDM.
If you take DD, you will be absolutely prepared, perfectly prepared to join DDM.
So once again, my question is, Of course, you might have English goals.
Well, now you know how to start achieving those goals.
Start with DD.
But what other goals do you have in your life?
Are you single?
Are you thinking about getting married?
Do you rent an apartment?
Are you thinking about buying a house?
Are you a student?
Are you thinking about becoming a PhD student?
Are you jobless?
Are you thinking about getting a job?
Well, getting a job, getting into a PhD program, getting married, buying a house, these are all goals.
And in order to achieve your goals...
It will make your life much easier if you have some stepping stones in place.
So think about that.
And please share your goals with everybody else and share your stepping stones too.
You can leave me a message on Facebook.
ESL Coach Shane.
You can leave me a message on Twitter at Coach Shane.
That's C-O-A-C-H-S-H-A-N-E.

Good luck to all of you.
Have a fantastic day.
And once again, if your goal is English, then together, let's master English.
