Let's go back in time.
Yesterday, we learned the expression stoop so low as to.
And the idea is to do something really evil, something not nice to somebody.
It was a good expression.
Today, we're going to learn another definition of the same expression.
Except today, stoop so low means to be disgustingly nice to your boss.
Or to your teacher.
Or to a politician.
And the idea is this.
Your boss at work, do you like him or her?
Hopefully you do.
If you're lucky, you like your boss.
But sometimes we don't.
However, they're the boss.
We have to be nice.
And some people are too nice.
Some people are disgustingly nice.
They're really... And we hate those people.
Another idea is at school.
Now, yes, hopefully we love our teachers, but reality is many times we don't.
And especially there are some teachers who are just not nice.
But every teacher... has a favorite student.
Why?
Because that student is especially nice to the teacher.
We have an expression for those students.
We call them the teacher's pet.
And the idea is the student stoops solo. to that teacher.
They go down, they bend down, they bow down B-O-W, they bow down very very, very low to do anything to make the teacher happy.
I don't like those people.
I'm not a stupor, but I'll be honest.
You know, I'm 47 in my life.
I am sure I have stooped low to people who do not deserve my respect.
That's reality.
It is.
It happens to all of us.
But hopefully the older we get, the less we stoop.
I don't know.
Maybe when you're young, you have to stoop.
You have to learn the hard way.
Let's check out a dialogue.
You're going somewhere.
The boss is.
What for?
I told him I'd wash his car.
Oh, you stoop so low.
At least I've got a job.
Oh, my goodness.
Can you imagine the weekend?
You're supposed to be relaxing at home with your family, and suddenly you get up to go...
To your boss's house in order to wash his car.
Oh my God, that is disgusting.
That is stooping low.
That is stooping so low.
Oh man, that's terrible.
We have many expressions for this type of situation.
Apple polisher.
Butt kisser, brown noser for the student who loves his teacher, teacher's pet.
But today i want you to know that stoop so low can also have that meaning.
By the way, the spelling people ask me stoop s-t-o-o-p.
To stoop low.
To stoop low has two meanings.
Number one, we learned yesterday to do something really evil.
And the other, to be nice, to be overly nice to someone who does not deserve your respect.
Or at least being nice to somebody that you actually do not like.
That's not cool.
That's being two-faced.
And being two-faced, oh, that's low.
That's really low.
All right.
That's it for today.
You guys have a fantastic day.
Practice the dialogue.
And together...
