Well, hello and welcome to this English lesson where I'm going to teach you some drone vocabulary.
I do have to clap to synchronize the audio from the microphone I'm wearing to the drone.
And I will have to check my phone from time to time to make sure it's still recording.
A drone is a small flying machine.
It is a small flying machine with four propellers.
And when those propellers spin, Those propellers give it lift, the ability to fly and the ability to hover.
In fact, right now it will hover.
If I stop walking, it will stay in one spot in the sky.
It will hover, which is pretty cool.
I guess technically right now I'm the drone pilot.
I'm the one who is flying the drone, but this drone is also autonomous, which means that it can think for itself.
Right now it can see me and it's simply flying backwards and allowing you to see where I'm walking.
Let me check my list here.
The drone has two other components.
It has a gimbal.
That's where the camera is mounted, so that it can move the camera quickly and keep things very, very stable.
It also has a battery pack.
The battery pack is what gives it the power that it needs.
And this battery pack only lasts for 19 minutes.
So I better make this lesson go as quickly as possible, because this is already my fifth attempt and I think I'm running out of battery power.
Let's see here, what else did I want to say?
So we would refer to that as flight time.
It has about 18 or 19 minutes of flight time, and then the battery pack would be dead and I would need to recharge it.
What else did I want to say?
Oh yes, this drone will take off and land in my hand, which is really, really cool.
So when I'm done recording, I simply need to hold my hand out and the drone will come towards me, and then it will land in my hand.
Let's see if it will pivot.
If I turn this way, does it know where I went?
Does it know that I want to go this way?
And will it turn?
Let's see if I can get it to When you, when something pivots, it means it turns.
It won't pivot.
Well, that's okay.
Let's walk this way and see what it does.
So it's decided to follow me.
Oh, look at that.
It is a smart little autonomous drone for sure.
That's really, really cool.
It also has what's called obstacle avoidance.
That means it can sense what is around it and it can avoid hitting those things.
So obstacle avoidance.
Let me check my list here.
I am the drone pilot.
It has obstacle avoidance.
It can take off from my hand and it can land in my hand.
It can hover.
It can stay in one spot in the sky, which is very, very cool.
The flight time is about 18 minutes.
The battery pack lasts about 18 minutes.
That's what gives it its flight time.
And it has four propellers.
You could also call it a quadcopter, by the way.
It has a gimbal to stabilize the camera.
The controller that I'm using is in my hand.
It's my phone.
I could also buy a remote control for it.
And of course, it is called a drone.
So let's see what else it will do.
If I say...
I want it to go far from me.
I think it will go further away.
Will it do that?
A little bit.
If I say I want it to go lower or even really low, it's going really low now.
Will it still fly backwards?
Yes, it will.
Very, very cool.
Although it is flying around kind of in a little bit of an erratic pattern right now.
It also has gesture control.
Let me see if I can show that to you.
If I go like this, I can then kind of like I'm using the force.
I can move the drone where I want it to go.
And then if I put my hand down, it stops.
And if I put both hands out, I can make it fly further away from me.
Let's get it really far away.
And then if I put one hand out, I could make it go quite high, actually.
It's pretty high up there right now.
Oh, good.
It's still recording.
So I hope you were able to learn some drone vocabulary.
I hope the audio.
Oh, what do I want to do here?
I hope the audio is something you can hear.
I think I need more practice as a drone pilot.
And I'm really hoping that this actual video worked out.
I have been Getting a little frustrated because it hasn't been doing what I have wanted it to do.
Let's bring it a little closer here.
Mostly because of my own inability to use it properly.
Anyways, thanks for watching.
I know this wasn't really an English lesson and hopefully I can remove the sound of the drone so you could hear what's happening.
And let me do, let me clap one more time.
Just to be sure that the video and the audio are synchronized.
Last time I recorded it, the audio didn't work at all.
It was just all static.
That was a little bit frustrating, but I think this time everything is good.
Anyways, thanks for watching.
I'll see you next week with another English lesson.
Bye.
