📋 Summary

The Paradox of Tobias’s Ambition

In the second part of the narrative, Tobias arrives at Saint Gamar’s School for Nasty Children, an institution that ostensibly prides itself on discipline, theology, and order. Despite his initial desire to "plant the seeds of evil," Tobias finds himself trapped in an environment where the "God virus"—a term suggesting the pervasive nature of religious indoctrination—is even stronger than at home. Tobias discovers that his peers and teachers, while appearing to be "monsters" or "hypocrites," are actually driven by a desire for harmony and academic success, often harboring secret dreams of reaching elite institutions like "Oxbridge."

Goodness as a Strategic Weapon

Realizing that blatant rebellion is ineffective, Tobias pivots his strategy. He decides to use "goodness as a weapon," performing acts of piety and kindness with calculated precision. By praying loudly, defending younger students, and restoring order to chaotic classrooms, Tobias earns the admiration of the faculty. He adopts the persona of a model student so convincingly that even when he attempts to run away, his internal conflict and the "voice inside his head" (which he believes is Satan) lead him back to his studies. He becomes an "excellent actor," successfully manipulating the system from within while secretly maintaining his allegiance to the darkness.

The Culmination of a Twisted Plan

Tobias’s academic dedication leads him to achieve near-perfect marks, securing a place at Trinity College, Cambridge, to study theology. His ultimate goal is a grand, performative betrayal: he intends to act as the perfect Christian student until graduation, only to publicly renounce his degree and "throw a Bible on the ground" to prove his devotion to evil. He is "practically vibrating with goodness" as he prepares to leave for university, fully committed to his long-term scheme.

The Ironic Finality

However, the story concludes with a sharp, ironic twist. A tragic car accident cuts short his journey to Cambridge. Upon dying, Tobias finds himself not in the realm of darkness he served, but in a place of pure, blinding light. The creature he encounters—revealed to be the source of the voice he heard in his head—confirms his fate. Tobias realizes the fatal flaw in his design: by spending years performing good deeds and living a life of discipline to maintain his cover, he had become indistinguishable from the "good" people he despised. His final moments were defined not by his intended malice, but by the facade of virtue he had perfected. The story ends on a note of cosmic irony, as Tobias faces a reality where "no evil was allowed," leaving him to confront the failure of his life’s work.
