Walker theorized that if researchers could "identify the gene" responsible for this delayed aging, they might be able to "silence the expression of developmental inertia." His hypothesis suggested that by finding an "off switch" for the aging process, humans could achieve "perfect homeostasis" and become "biologically immortal." Walker further asserted that individuals with this condition experience an aging process "approximately five times slower" than the average person.
