But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
Oh, hey, Mindy.
Why is your backpack moving?
It looks like there's a live animal in there or something.
Oh, that's because there's a live animal in there or something, Guy Raz.
I brought the campers a special guest for Shark Week.
You brought the guest in your backpack?
Uh-huh.
Shh.
Trying to keep it a surprise for the campers.
Mindy, you put a shark in your backpack?
Shh.
Mindy, sharks need Water to breathe in?
Can't breathe in your backpack?
Don't worry, Guy Raz.
I dumped a whole water bottle in there.
See?
You can tell by the way my backpack is leaking.
Uh-oh, the campers are coming.
Let me just zip you right back up here, Sharky.
Get in there.
Get in there.
No, the zipper won't close, Guy Raz.
Quick, I need your glasses.
My glasses?
Why do you need my glasses?
Because we have to give my shark here a disguise.
If we don't, the campers will totally recognize it's a shark and ruin the surprise.
Now give me your glasses.
Quick.
Mindy, I don't think this is going to work.
Of course it won't work, Guy Raz.
Now hand me your glasses.
Okay, here you go.
Thank you.
Okay, Sharky.
I'm going to put these glasses on your little shark face here, and I just want you to act natural.
There.
Hi, campers.
Nothing to see here.
Only normal things happening right now.
God, they're scary on.
Just me and Guy Raz just acting normal, you know.
You think we fooled them, Guy Raz?
Well, I couldn't tell because I can't see anything without my glasses.
Oh, right, sorry.
Glasses back.
Here you are.
Sorry about that, Guy Raz.
There, put them back on your face.
Camp WeWow is an awesome place.
Physics, biology, and outer space.
Science explorers with our headquarters.
Oh, Dennis.
Here at Camp WeWow.
Okay, that's enough.
Hey!
Campers, it's Shark Week here at Camp Wee Wow.
I'm your camp counselor, Guy Raz.
And I'm a Sagittarius.
What?
And this week's Sharktivities are all inspired by our Wow in the World episode, Scaredy Sharks and the Science of Fear.
Now, if you missed it, you can catch up by listening to yesterday's episode of Camp WeWow.
On the to-do list for today is a little scientific experiment we like to call If You Float, Oil Float.
We'll be learning and exploring how in the world a 2000-pound creature like the great white shark can possibly float in water.
But before we begin, Dennis would like to share today's to-don't list with you.
Dennis?
Attention campers!
This week we're going to be around sharks, so there are several to-don'ts on the list that are very important.
Number one, don't be afraid of the sharks.
Unless, of course, you start hearing dark ominous music being played on a cello.
That means you're in a scary shark movie from 1975.
Number two, don't try to pitch business ideas to the sharks.
They're not investors or entrepreneurs.
They're fish.
They don't seem to care at all about amazing business opportunities or impeccable PowerPoint presentations.
Reggie, that turns audio books back into regular books was a fantastic idea.
And number three, if you're looking to invest in a new business venture, don't miss this incredible opportunity.
Talking to Texty is a new invention that will turn those old audio books into fantastic new regular books.
You know, the ones with the pages and the words and stuff.
If you're a venture capitalist, my email address is dennisknight.com.
Thank you, Dennis.
All right, everyone.
We're going to head over to Lake Wee Wow for today's activity.
But before we walk over, our Camp Wee Wow mascot, the Wow Cow, has something to share.
Hey there, fellow Wee Wow campers.
It's your favorite mascot, the Wow Cow here.
Moo!
Hold the applause.
Hold the applause.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Campers, did you know that the Greenland shark is so old that it may be able to live an estimated 500 years?
That means there could be some Greenland sharks swimming around that have been alive since the Middle Ages.
And there's more where that came from.
Can't wait to be right back.
Grownups.
This message is for Moo grown-ups.
It's mindy and guy ross here from wow in the world.

That's it.
Now back to camp.
Welcome back, campers.
Here we are at Lake WeWOW, where counselor Guy Raz and I will be demonstrating today's activity.
In honor of Shark Week, here at Camp WeWOW we're going to be learning and exploring the world of shark buoyancy.
Campers, have you ever wondered why in the world great white sharks can swim in the ocean without the fear of sinking, even though they weigh over 2000 pounds?
Well, that's because of buoyancy, or the ability to float.
So, Counselor Mindy and I did some research.
It turns out one of the most important factors has to do with the shark's liver.
The liver is an organ in the body that filters out the stuff that your body doesn't need.
Now, how does a giant organ like the liver help a great white shark float, you ask?
It has a little something to do with the special kind of oil inside.
If you've ever added oil to water, you would have noticed that the oil almost always floats on top of the water rather than mixing with it or sinking to the bottom.
This means that the oil in a great white shark's liver helps the shark to float in the water.
And to demonstrate what I'm talking about, we're going to try a little scientific experiment today, called
If you float, we'll float.
For this experiment you'll need a water bottle, some cooking oil, a container filled with water and, most important, a grown-up to supervise.
Like a camp counselor in your own home that looks like your mom.
So let's get into it.
Step one, we're going to carefully fill this plastic bottle here with the cooking oil.
Easy does it.
And while Guy Raz is doing that, I'm gonna take things up a notch.
Huh?
Campers.
What you're looking at here are 12 gallon jugs filled to the brim with grade A coconut oil from Guy Raz's skincare routine.
My coconut oil?
Step two, in order to see if they help me float, I'm going to duct tape these jugs all over my body.
You're gonna what?
Guy Raz, a hand, please, with the tape.
Are you sure this is a good idea, Mindy?
Yes, of course.
I'm not sure this is a good idea, Guy Raz.
Come on, tape her up.
Oh, you forgot a jug over there.
Step three.
Now that we've got the jugs of oil taped to my body, we jump.
We?
On the count of three.
One, two... when you pulled me into the lake.
Well, I sure am feeling buoyant.
I guess this experiment actually works.
And there you have it, campers.
That's our experiment for today.
Now it's your turn.
For full instructions, just visit Tinkercast.com slash camp.
Just please stay away from large bodies of water and my coconut oil.
Camp Weenie Wonders!
It's me, Thomas Fingerling, here at the Lost and Found.
We've got a pair of socks with the letters P and U written on them.
I'm thinking PU is the initials for someone's name like Penelope Uberman or Peter Umpton or Paddington Underhill, or wait, It's an acronym like for Purdue University or polyurethane or power up.
Oh wait, maybe whoever wrote it was writing a word that starts with P-U, like pudding or puppy or puzzle.
Hmm, P-U.
This is a real stinker of a puzzle.
Oh wait, I got it.
P-U, the chemical symbol for plutonium.
Well, that's just about all the time we have for today's Camp Wee Wow.
We will be back tomorrow for day three of Shark Week.
But before we go... review of today's experiment.
Today we conducted a little experiment to demonstrate how massive sharks are able to float in water.
But in true Camp WeWow fashion, it did not go according to plan.
And that's where you come in.
We challenge you to give our experiment a try on your own.
For this experiment, you'll need to fill a tub, sink, or a large container with water.
And then, with a grown-up's help, grab an empty plastic bottle and fill it with some kind of cooking oil.
Make sure the cap is screwed back on and place the oil-filled bottle into the water tub.
Do you think the oil-filled bottle will float the same way an oil-filled liver helps a shark to float?
Try it and find out.
And while you're at it, experiment with other water-friendly items to see if they float too.
Maybe a piece of fruit, a tube of toothpaste, a peanut, a jar of honey, a can of seltzer.
And when you complete this challenge, you'll be one step closer to unlocking your official Shark Bite Wee Wow, badge.
For more on all that, just visit Tinkercast.com slash membership.
And be sure to send us photos and videos of your experiments at Tinkercast.com slash shares.
In this week's Wow in the World episode about scaredy sharks and the science of fear, you learned all about how sharks adapt to deal with their fear of killer whales.
We want to hear all about how you faced one of your biggest fears.
Give us a call at our Camp WeWow hotline 1-888-7-WOW-WOW, to share with us how you overcame one of your big fears.
You might be featured on our big Campfire Fear Chat on Friday.
In the meantime, we'll see you back here tomorrow for Shark Week fun at Camp WeWow.
Until then, who wows?
We wow!
