But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
I have finished today's camp itinerary.
Want to give it a look through?
Of course, Mindy.
Let's see here.
9 a.m., eat breakfast.
11 a.m., eat brunch.
12 p.m., have some lunch.
Okay, so I guess a lot of food options?
Yep, keep reading.
All right, 1 o'clock we're having Reggie give a TED Talk called One in a Million the struggles of pigeons in New York City.
Two o'clock, Dennis is teaching how to cook creme brulee.
Three o'clock, we'll have a magic carpet ride?
Uh-huh.
Check these out.
I got them on sale.
Mindy, are you sure those aren't just regular carpets?
Yes, of course I'm not sure, Guy Raz.
I found them by the dumpster at the carpet store with a sign attached.
Well, what did the sign say?
It said, caution.
Do not touch.
As in caution, do not touch these magic carpets unless you want to have fun.
I'm not sure that's what they meant by the whole do not touch sign, Mindy.
What is that?
Oh, look.
A little family of cockroaches is climbing out of the rugs.
Hey, friends.
Are you sure you really want to sit on these carpets, Mindy?
Yes, of course I'm not sure, Guy Raz.
Now hop on.
Okay.
Ready.
Camp Wee Wow is an awesome place.
Physics, biology, and outer space.
Science explorers with our headquarters.
Oh, Dennis.
Here at Camp Wee Wow.
Okay, that's enough.
Hey!
Welcome to Camp WeWow, the invisible summer camp for science explorers everywhere.
I'm your camp counselor, Guy Raz.
And I can sneeze with my eyes open.
You can?
I mean, I'm Mindy.
Campers.
It's Magic Week.
Inspired by our Wow in the World episode Eyes on the Behind the science of optical illusions and ambush predators.
Now, before we begin today, Dennis would first like to add something to the...
Don't list.
Dennis, take it away.
Ahem.
Thank you, Guy Raz.
Attention, campers.
Now, I know we're all trying to master magic tricks this week, but we here at Camp Wee Wow have a new policy.
No more sawing friends in half.
It's cliche.
Instead, try sawing in thirds or fourths.
I mean, get creative here, campers.
Also, someone has been eating... attended macaroni friendship bracelets.
I made a matching set for me.
Mindy and Guy went to go get a drink and came back to find them all munched and chomped.
Reggie, it was you?
Those were not food.
Those were friendship bracelets for the three amigos.
Me, Mindy, and Guy, obviously.
Fine, I'll go make new ones for the four of us.
We'll be called The Fantastic Four.
No, wait.
The Four Seasons.
No, wait.
The Denver Broncos.
Okay, fine.
Fantastic Four.
Dennis out.
Uh-huh.
Thank you for sharing that, Dennis.
Now, campers, it's time to head over to the Cabin of Bad Ideas for a little scientific experiment.
And while we're walking over, our camp mascot, the Wow Cow... has something to share.
Wow Cow?
Hello, Wee Wow campers.
It's your favorite mascot, the Wow Cow here.
And did you know that a single cow can burn up to 220 pounds of methane gas in a year?
And there's more where that came from.
Camp Wee Wow will be right back.
Perhaps this message is for you.
I mean boob grown-ups.
It's mindy and guy ross here from wow in the world.

Now back to camp.
And we're here at Mindy's Cabin of Bad Ideas.
So why don't we get started with our magic trick today.
Mindy, what's on the agenda?
Guy Raz, we're going to need a drum roll for this one.
Reggie, hit it.
Pampers.
Today, we are going to magically stick this plastic straw through an entire potato, using the magic of science.
Now, we know what you're thinking.
Plastic straws are not very sturdy.
Isn't it going to be hard to stick a flimsy straw through a very solid object like a potato?
It won't be hard for science, Guy Raz.
All you need to perform this scientific illusion is a plastic straw and a potato.
So the first thing you're going to do is grab onto one side of the potato, holding it, for balance.
Then you're going to take your plastic straw and place your thumb over the opening of the top of the straw like this
Finally, you're going to stick the straw through the potato and you'll find that it won't require as much pressure as you'd expect.
And why is that, you ask?
By placing your finger over the opening of the straw, you're trapping the air inside the straw.
This makes the air molecules compress and gives the straw some real strength, preventing the straw from breaking or even bending.
If you hold your thumb over the opening the entire time, the compressed air should make the straw strong enough to cut through the skin, pass through the potato and exit onto the other side.
So, Mindy, let's give it a try.
Okay.
I'm placing my thumb over the opening of the straw here and pushing the straw through the potato.
Whoa, it worked!
Wow.
I'm going to do it again.
Mindy, why are there french fries everywhere?
Uh...
And where is the potato?
Oops, I may have overdone it.
You think?
Hey, Reggie, you think you can get us some ketchup?
Ahem.
Hi there, we whatchamacallits.
It's me, Thomas Fingerling, coming to you from the lost and found.
Today, we found a top hat.
It seems very fancy.
It's black and has a beautiful silk band that goes around the outside here.
And the lining on the inside is made of a very fine... What the?
There's a rabbit in this hat.
What in the world wide web is a bunny doing inside of a hat?
Wait, is this your hat, Mr. Bun Bun?
No, no, no, that don't make no sense.
Pretty cute, though.
Well, if anyone's missing a top hat or a bunny rabbit, please stop by the Lost and Found to collect your belongings.
Okay, Mr. Bun Bun, let's say you and me go get some lunch.
Campers, we had so much fun with you today.
And now we want to challenge you to try our potato magic trick for yourself.
To recap, all you need is a plastic straw and a potato.
Just place your thumb over the opening of the straw and watch your straw move through the potato.
And if you want to take this science magic to the next level, maybe try it on a few other fruits and vegetables from your kitchen.
Grown-ups.
You can send us photos and videos of your camper's findings at tinkercastcom.
