There we go.
Hey, Reg, can you hand me one more bolt?
Thanks, Reg.
Mindy, Mindy, where are you?
Oh, I'm right in here, Guy Raz.
In the 18-wheeler?
Oh, wait, why is there an 18-wheeler here?
I'm so glad you asked.
The campers kept asking when we were going to bring this magical school bus to Camp Wee Wow, and I don't know anything about any magical school buses.
Well, actually... So I rescued this old 18-wheeler.
Thought I'd add a little bit of magic to it.
You rescued an 18-wheeler?
Yeah, from the side of the road.
But shh, the driver's still sleeping.
I gotta get this cargo to the loading dock.
Watch this magic.
Whoa, what is happening?
Is the truck bouncing?
Sure is, Guy Raz.
10-4, good buddy.
What in the?
I replaced the tires with rubber band balls.
Come on.
Uh, I'm not so sure about this, Mindy.
Come on, Guy Razzi.
It'll be fun.
Okay.
In three, two, one, down!
Camp Wee Wow is an awesome place.
Physics, biology, and outer space.
Science explorers with our headquarters.
That's not bad.
Welcome to Camp WeWow, the invisible summer camp for science explorers everywhere.
I'm your camp counselor, Guy Raz.
And I just pulled a hat out of a rabbit.
You what?
I mean, I'm Mindy.
Campers.
It's Magic Week.
Inspired by our Wow in the World episode Eyes on the Behind the science of optical illusions and ambush predators.
Now, before we begin camp for today, Please listen carefully, as Dennis would like to share his list of complaints.
Really, Dennis?
Yes.
Thank you, Guy Raz.
Attention campers.
Today's list of complaints has only one.
During last night's dinner. to everyone.
Attention campers, be on the lookout for someone working in the kitchen with hair exactly the same color as mine, exactly the same length as mine and uses exactly the same shampoo as I do.
Reggie, this is not my hair.
OK, fine, it might be my hair. mysterious food hair bandit.
Dennis, over and out.
Thanks, Dennis.
Uh-huh.
All right, campers, let's head to the mess hall for today's experiment in optical illusions.
And while we're walking over, our Camp Wee Wow mascot has a little something to share with you.
Hello, Wee Wow campers.
It's your favorite mascot, the Wow Cow here.
And did you know that cow stomachs have four different pouches to help them digest their food.
This cow mascot costumized zero stomachs, but it does have two pouches called pockets to hold all the snacks.
Can I get a moo?
We're gonna take a quick break to allow you to count your stomachs.
More Count Wee Wow right after this.
Hey grownups, it's Mindy and Guy Raz here from Wow in the World.
Mindy and I have some from our 100 experiments that wow kit to the telescope and astronomy kit.
Our Wow in the World toys help your wowzer learn about their world through play.
Plus, you can hear exclusive audio content from me and Guy Raz to help your wowzer discover even more wows.
Grownups.

That's Tinkercast.com slash toys.
That's it.
Now back to camp.
Welcome to our mess hall, campers.
We're going to get started with today's activity, where Guy Raz and I are going to be teaching you fractions.
Oops, that's a typo.
I meant to write refraction.
Hmm.
Why do we have to teach them about fractions twice?
No, we're teaching them about refraction, the changing of light or sound waves caused by a change in speed.
Ah.
Yes, of course, that refraction.
Now, all we need for this activity today is a piece of paper, a glass, water, and a pen.
And a grown-up counselor, just in case.
OK, Mindy, to start us off, can you draw us a short arrow on this sheet of paper?
I sure can.
Drawing, drawing, drawing, and finished.
Here.
Mindy, this isn't an arrow.
This is a picture of me.
I know, but isn't it uncanny?
I mean, look, Reggie.
This looks just like Guy Raz.
Oh, thanks for noticing, Reggie.
Yes, that is a piece of kale between his teeth.
Okay.
Well, campers, remember how this image looks now.
When we look at it later through the water, it might look a little different.
Now, Mindy, let's play.
Pour some water into the glass.
Way ahead of you, Guy Raz.
Picking up this jug of water here.
Indy, we only need to fill a glass, not an aquarium.
Ah, but you can never have too much water, Guy Razzy.
Now, we're just going to carefully pour this 10-gallon jug into this small glass here.
Sorry, made a little spill.
Well, at least you got some of the water in the glass.
Hold on.
Let me just dry off your drawing with a towel.
Thank you.
And now, we're going to hold up the drawing behind the glass of water.
Campers, watch how the drawing changes when we put it behind the glass of water.
It flips directions.
And this is because the light travels through the water than when there is no water.
Exactly.
It essentially bends the light when it enters the water and then bends it again when it leaves the water, which is why the image ends up looking flipped.
It's called refraction.
Now, let's move the cup around and see if that changes how we see the drawing.
Hmm, nope.
Not there.
Let's see, maybe if we move it here.
Ah, Mindy, I... Oops, spilled the water all over the drawing again.
Now it looks like a big blue blob of ink.
You know, we should try this by drawing an arrow on the paper and see if we could get that to change directions.
Guy Raz.
That's what I wanted to do in the first place.
Well, then you should have just said so.
I did say so.
I literally said draw an arrow.
Well, maybe you should have said it louder.
Attention campers!
It's me, Dennis, coming to you live from the mail room.
I'm digging through all of your mail as usual, and I thought I would read some letters from your families over the loudspeaker.
Let's begin with this one.
It's for Samantha.
Your mom says, hi, Samantha.
We found a moldy peanut butter and jelly sandwich in your mattress.
Care to explain?
Ooh, Samantha.
I'll write her back for you.
Dearest mother, apologies for the PB&J.
Next time I'll make a healthier sandwich like hummus and avocado and sprouts on cauliflower flatbread.
All the best, Samantha.
There we go.
Let's see, next letter.
Dear Mark, you're due for a dentist appointment next month.
Are you available on the 17th?
There's an 11 a.m. or a 3 p.m. slot.
Please check your calendar and get back to me as soon as possible.
Sincerely, Dad.
Oh boy, too much to unpack there.
Moving on.
Let's see, one last one.
It's for me getting me mail.
Ahem hi, dennis.
It's dennis, looking fabulous today.
Keep up the good work, love me.
Wow, what a thoughtful thing for me to say to me well, that'll do it for today, me out.
Campers, we had so much fun learning about optical illusions and refraction with you today.
And now we want to challenge you to try out our little magical science experiment.
All you need is a see-through glass, water, a piece of paper, and a pen.
Draw an arrow pointing in one direction and see if putting a glass full of water in front of the arrow changes the image.
And if you want to take it a step further...
You and your grown-up counselor can try doing this with other clear liquids that you have at home, like oil or vinegar.
Grown-ups.
You can send us photos and videos of your camper's experiments at tinkercastcom.
Slash share.
And don't forget to call us with your favorite memory from Camp WeWow this summer.
Maybe your memory is about something you discovered through one of your Camp WeWow experiments.
Or maybe it's a memory you totally made up.
Either way, just leave us a message at 1-888-7WOW-WOW.
Your memory just might be shared this Friday around the Camp WeWOW campfire.
Well, that's all for now, campers.
Until tomorrow, who wows?
WeWOW!
