Hi it's me Nina from Sesame Street and you're listening to Good Night World a sleep cast where your friends at Sesame Street and Headspace Studios help you get ready for bed.
Good Night World Good Night World.
Good Night World. Good Night World.
Good Night World. Good Night World.
Good Night World. Tonight's episode is Bert and Ernie's fall day on the farm.
Hi Nina here. It's a beautiful fall day on Sesame Street.
The air is cool but not too cold and the leaves on the trees are yellow, orange and red.
Oh and then there's Bert and Ernie.
What a beautiful day Ernie.
I love fall. It's my favorite season.
I love it too buddy Bert and so does Rubber Ducky.
Hi Bert. Hey Ernie.
Oh hi there Nina. Oh hi Nina.
I'm on my way to Hooper's Store to treat myself to a nice cup of hot apple cider.
Want to join me? Oh I love a good cup of hot apple cider.
Well it's a nice way to warm up on a cool day.
Rubber Ducky loves it too.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of apple cider for everyone.
You know that sounds nice Nina but Ernie and I have to go pick up our laundry from the laundromat before it closes and then we still need to get groceries from Hooper's.
Bert, how about we take a break and do something fun?
I want to go to the apple orchard and pick apples.
Ernie, we said we'd go to the apple orchard tomorrow.
But tomorrow seems so far away Bert.
I know waiting can be hard Ernie but I think I know a way you can go to the orchard right now and Bert, you can still do everything you need to do.
Really? Oh Nina. By using our imaginations.
Bert, how about if you go to the laundromat and Ernie and I go to Hooper's store to get groceries and Ernie while we're there we can imagine our own apple orchard.
Hmm I like the sound of that idea Nina.
I can imagine what I'll do tomorrow at the apple orchard.
Exactly. So Bert, you can meet Ernie and I at Hooper's store when you're done.
Sounds good Nina. Alright Ernie let's head over to Hooper's store.
Okay Nina. Alright grocery is done.
Here let's set them on the counter.
Thanks Nina. You're welcome Ernie.
Before we start imagining, do you want to sit down and do some belly breathing together?
It'll help you relax from today and get us ready to imagine together.
Or can rubber ducky do belly breathing too?
Of course he can. Rubber ducky says this is turning into a great day and I agree.
Okay Ernie, let's have rubber ducky help us with some belly breathing.
We call this belly buddy breathing.
Belly buddy breathing?
Mm -hmm. Hold rubber ducky right in front of your belly with your hands.
Focus on how your rubber ducky moves in and out on your tummy as you belly breathe.
Okay. Holding rubber ducky right in front of my tummy.
Perfecto. Now with your hands holding rubber ducky right in front of your belly.
Slowly breathe in through your nose then breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Gee I can feel rubber ducky moving in and out with my tummy.
Very good. Let's do that again.
Slowly breathe in through your nose and slowly breathe out through your mouth.
Okay. Last one. Slowly breathe in through your nose and slowly out through your mouth.
Well that felt good Nina.
Uber there you are.
Mm -hmm. I'm done at the laundromat.
And we got the groceries.
That's swell. Wow. Did you hear the wind outside?
It just blew some leaves by the window.
Oh I heard it. Hey did you hear it too Bert?
I did Ernie. Nina I think I'm ready to start imagining all the fall activities at the apple orchard.
Oh hey Bert do you want to imagine with me?
Sure Ernie. Oh good.
Okay I'm going to imagine that one of the leaves is floating all the way from Sesame Street to the apple orchard.
Let's imagine a beautiful red leaf falling from a tree floating with the wind and landing on the ground in a farm.
The farm is on a gentle hill.
At the entrance to the farm there is a big archway with a sign.
The sign says Sesame Street farm.
Past the sign there is a big red barn.
The barn has a big red roof and just outside the barn there is an orange tractor.
Inside the barn there are farm animals and outside there is a small fenced in petting zoo connected to the barn.
Sesame Street farm also has an apple orchard, a long cornfield, and a pumpkin patch.
The pumpkin patch has big and small pumpkins ready to be picked.
Most of the pumpkins are orange but some have different colors like white, blue, and green.
The farm has many visitors who come to see the animals and enjoy all the fall day activities.
Bert and Ernie are wearing just the right clothes for a beautiful fall day.
They have scarves that match their sweaters and protect them from the cool air when the wind blows.
Bert's scarf has stripes that are orange and blue just like the ones on his sweater.
Ernie's scarf is red and blue and matches his sweater.
Bert and Ernie walk over to the back.
The apple orchard is on a hill and has rows and rows of apple trees that stretch all the way up the hill.
The apples come in all different colors.
There are green apples and yellow apples and red apples.
Bert and Ernie are carrying a basket they brought to put the apples in.
Ernie picks a green apple because they taste tart and juicy.
Bert picks a few sweet red apples and adds them to the basket.
Apples make a great anytime treat and they're especially delicious in the fall.
Some apples are on the lower branches of the tree and Bert can just reach up and pick them.
But some apples are on taller branches and one of the farmers helps by using a ladder to reach the apples.
Once the basket is full of apples, Bert and Ernie go to the pumpkin patch.
In the pumpkin patch children and their families pick out pumpkins.
Bert finds a pumpkin that's tall and narrow with a green stem on top that looks a little like his hair.
The pumpkin reminds Ernie of Bert.
Ernie chooses a pumpkin that's nice and round.
When they get home, Bert and Ernie plan to scoop out the pumpkin seeds and dry them so they can roast them and eat them.
Bert thinks pumpkin seeds are delicious roasted in the oven with a little bit of salt.
Bert and Ernie also plan to carve the pumpkins and make beautiful designs.
After the pumpkin patch, Bert and Ernie walk up to the fence where the petting zoo is.
The farm has a small petting zoo that is connected by a fence to the big red barn.
At night the animals sleep inside the barn and during the day they have pens outside to run around in.
The petting zoo has bunnies, goats, sheep, and chickens.
The chickens peck at the ground and go bock, bock, bock.
The sheep have soft wool that looks like clouds in the sky.
The animals run around the petting zoo, gently coming in close to the fence so children can pet them.
Ernie notices the fluffy bunnies and their long ears.
One of the bunnies is munching on a carrot.
Her fur is black with gray spots on her paws.
Bert loves petting the baby goats and makes friends with one of them named Zelda.
Zelda the goat has brown fur with white spots and two little horns on her head.
Zelda the goat also has white hair coming from her chin.
Bert and Ernie walk over to the farm stand where they sell fruits and vegetables, farm fresh eggs, and snacks.
The farm stand has picnic tables in front and there's a chalkboard that lists all the foods they have for sale.
A farmer helps serve all the delicious homemade foods.
They sell sandwiches and soups and special treats like apple cider donuts, pumpkin pie, and warm drinks made right there on the farm.
Bert and Ernie sit at a picnic table and have a special snack.
They drink warm apple cider and share a delicious homemade pumpkin muffin.
It's late in the afternoon now and it's getting colder so Bert and Ernie put on their wool hats and begin to head home to Sesame Street with their basket full of apples and the pumpkins they picked.
Best fall day ever.
