📋 Summary

Reclaiming Focus: A Journey Toward Intentional Living

In this vlog, Clarice explores the intersection of mental health, academic pressure, and the pervasive influence of screen time. By documenting her personal "digital detox" and routine reset, she provides a roadmap for moving from mindless consumption to intentional creation.

The Root of Anxiety: Breaking the Digital Loop

Clarice identifies a significant contributor to her feelings of being "overwhelmed" and "anxious": an unhealthy reliance on her phone. She admits that checking her device "first thing in the morning and right before bed" created a negative cycle that impacted her self-esteem. To combat this, she implemented a strict boundary by keeping her phone on her dresser to force herself out of bed and avoid the immediate pull of digital distraction. Her goal is to "consume less mindlessly and create more intentionally," shifting her focus toward projects that inspire her rather than content that drains her.

The Power of Routine and Mental Clarity

Central to Clarice’s strategy is the implementation of a "reset routine." She emphasizes that the way she starts her day dictates the trajectory of the following hours. Her morning non-negotiables include:

  • Making the bed and skincare: Establishing physical order.
  • Journaling: Writing out priorities to anchor her focus.
  • Decluttering: Tidy physical spaces lead to "immediate impact on mental clarity."

She extends this philosophy of decluttering to her digital life, noting that just as physical spaces need tidying, tech devices require maintenance to remain optimized. By keeping her digital workspace "clutter-free," she finds that her workflow improves and her capacity for creativity increases.

Reframing Academic Stress

As a student facing a heavy semester, Clarice finds herself oscillating between feeling "super overwhelmed" and recognizing that she can manage her workload. She admits to moments of fatigue, noting that she has to be "delusional" to push through the final weeks of the semester. A key takeaway from her experience is the power of reframing. Instead of viewing editing or assignments as mere tasks on a "to-do list," she attempts to see them as outlets for creativity and self-expression. By taking a "step back" and seeing the "bigger picture," she manages to lower her stress levels.

Sustainable Habits for the Long Term

Clarice highlights that reducing screen time is not just about willpower, but about replacing bad habits with better ones. During her commute—a time when she would typically "scroll"—she has begun listening to podcasts, such as the Mel Robbins podcast, to stay "motivated and inspired."

Ultimately, Clarice’s journey serves as a reminder that:

  1. Boundaries are essential: Keeping the phone away from the bedside is a foundational habit for mental well-being.
  2. Intentionality is a choice: We can choose to use our time to "work on myself" and "create things that I'm proud of."
  3. Perspective shifts are tools: Reframing daily responsibilities can transform a source of dread into a source of fulfillment.

Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my channel.
My name is Clarice, if you're new here, and I'm very happy that you decided to click on this video and spend some time with me.
At around this time last week i was feeling very anxious and i was like journaling about it and trying to identify what is it exactly that is making me feel so overwhelmed and so anxious.
And when i really got down to the root cause, i realized it's because my routine is really centered around my phone and my screen time.
I would go on it first thing in the morning and right before bed, which i'm sure some of you can relate.
It's just like the worst way to start and end your day, but it's so easy to make that a habit and just to do it and get caught in that loop, in that cycle.
