The innovation is so potent that it has transcended entertainment; researchers are now using voxel printing to create "perfect replicas" of patient body parts, including bones, tissue, and veins, to assist surgeons in practicing complex procedures.

Despite the high-tech nature of his work, McLean emphasizes that 3D printing does not replace the artist. Each puppet face is "hand-finished by artists" and cataloged in a "face library." In the production of Missing Link, the team printed over 106,000 unique faces, earning a Guinness World Record. McLean concludes by demonstrating this process with a puppet named Norman, showing how 24 printed faces per second, when combined with the brain's imaginative capacity, bring still objects to life. His message is clear: technology, when embraced rather than feared, becomes a powerful medium for bringing human imagination into reality.
