This allows the droplet to gain speed after leaving the bug, a phenomenon that initially seemed impossible until the lab proved that the "squishiness" of the drop provides a free energy boost. This research has practical applications for human technology, such as improving the design of electronics in smartwatches or hearing aids that need to eject water from tiny crevices using minimal energy.

The "Jetstice League" and Scientific Storytelling

Bhamla’s comics often use humor and narrative to explain biological fluid dynamics. In Captain Cicada and the Jestus League, the sharpshooter faces off against a larger cicada in a "battle of fluids." This narrative serves as a Trojan horse for scientific education, introducing readers to the concept of jet propulsion in nature, seen in animals like the archerfish and the octopus. By framing these organisms as superheroes, Bhamla makes complex biophysics relatable to both children and adults.
