Good morning and welcome to Kid News.
I'm Kim.
Today is Tuesday, October 7th, 2025.
And we begin with a rescue effort on the scale of a blockbuster movie.
The drama began with a shock blizzard that hit the eastern slope of Mount Everest in Nepal over the weekend.
At one point, a thousand climbers found themselves and their tents trapped by massive amounts of snow.
As of this recording, hundreds have been rescued, but hundreds are still stuck at campsites above 16000 feet.
Rescue crews and local villagers have been working around the clock to get everyone off the mountain.
One of the lucky ones told Reuters that the biggest risk is hypothermia.
The weather this year is not normal, she said.
Our guide said he had never encountered such weather in October, and it happened all too suddenly.
Mount Everest reaches 29,031 feet, which is the highest elevation above sea level in the world.
Their famous family has included senators, ambassadors, and even two presidents.
Now the Bush dynasty may expand again to include its third governor.
Jonathan Bush, the cousin of former President George W Bush, is expected to announce his run for the top seat in Maine tomorrow.
The 56-year-old Republican has been exploring a run since July, citing Mainer's desire for a proven job creator who will shake up the status quo and keep young people in state.
Before your time, his cousin George was the governor of Texas and his other cousin Jeb the governor of Florida.
Mr Bush will be the most famous name on the main ticket by far, but will have to win over a state that typically tends to vote for Democrats.
The Mercury better rise before it's too late.
Phoenix's team is down two games to none against the Vegas Aces in the WNBA finals.
The first game was a thrilling photo finish.
The second, a clobbering.
Game three in the best of seven series is tomorrow night.
But the action off the court is getting almost as much attention.
In her exit interview last week, Lynx standout Nafisha Collier blasted the league for having the worst leadership in the world and accused Commissioner Kathy Engelbert of being dismissive of Kaitlyn Clark and underpaying rookie superstars.
Kaitlyn initially stayed out of the fray before saying Nafisha made valid points and calling this, straight up, the most important moment in this league's history.
Commissioner Engelbert denied some of the accusations, says she respects all the players but, according to the Sports Business Journal, may soon resign.
In today's Kid News Notes, it's a big week for the world's top prize.
Each day, the Nobels are being announced, and yesterday the honor was for medicine.
Two Americans and a professor from Japan will share it for their work on the human immune system.
Today, it's for physics, and Friday is the big one, the Nobel Prize for Peace.
Another day, another high watermark for Taylor Swift.
Even with only two weeks of promotion, the singer's The Official Release Party of a Showgirl movie came in at number one at the North American box office with 33 million, according to estimates from Comscore.
As Deadline reports.
This means Swift has a number one album and number one movie on the same weekend, which not even Prince accomplished with the release of Purple Rain in 1984, nor Whitney Houston with The Bodyguard in 1992.
And French cyclist Aurelien Fontenoy just bounced his way into the record books by bunny hopping his mountain bike up all 686 steps to the Eiffel Tower's second floor in a mere 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
No pedaling involved, just pure shoulder and calf burning hop power with locked brakes the entire way as he lurched his bike up the famous landmark.
The social media star, called it really taxing, which seems like an understatement to those of us who typically opt for the elevator.
Still to come, it's not unusual to get cravings for a burger and fries, not even for a python.

Kicker, a customer at the drive-thru at a Southern California fast food restaurant, sure surprised the staff.
An employee at the Monrovia In-N-Out spotted a snake slithering through the drive-thru.
The bald python appeared to be well cared for, so local Humane Society workers concluded that someone's pet had escaped its enclosure.
In a Facebook post, the shelter urged the public to help find the owner, and it worked.
Turns out the python had been missing for two months before its owner saw it on the news.
The two have been reunited and the nearly four-foot-long pet with a penchant for fast food is reportedly just fine.
