Good morning and welcome to KidNews.
I'm Tori. Today is Monday, June 9, 2025 – and we begin with Ed the Missing Zebra, Missing No More.
Yesterday, the recalcitrant runaway that captivated much of Middle Tennessee for the past week was plucked from a field by helicopter.
A specially trained crew found him during a flyover, dropped a net, and airlifted him to a nearby animal shelter, which made for quite a sight as the striped, four -legged fugitive dangled a few hundred feet off the ground.
Ed's unlikely journey from just another zebra to local celebrity began when he gave his new owners The Slip one day after arrival.
Sightings became big news, and memes and AI -generated images of Ed in strange places like a local Waffle House, soon followed. Zebras are quick, stubborn and aggressive, complicating his capture.
But Ed's human, Laura Ford, told WSMV in Nashville that all's well that ends well, Ed is home and 100 % healthy.
The stage is going up and tanks are already rolling in for this weekend's big event in Washington, DC.
On Saturday the nation's capital will host a massive military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army.
The date also coincides with Flag Day and President Trump's birthday starting at 6 .30 p .m. nearly 7 ,000 soldiers will march down Constitution Avenue along with dozens of planes, choppers and 150 tanks many of which arrived yesterday by train from Texas.
It'll be the first such public display of America's military might since 1991, when then -President George H .W.
Bush threw a parade and party to mark the end of the Persian Gulf War.
Anyone with travel plans through D .C.
on Saturday should take note.
Not only will many roads be closed but Ronald Reagan Airport plans to pause around 100 flights at the height of the event for the flyover and fireworks.
We've talked about Amazon deliveries by drone, that'll seem downright old fashioned compared to what the company reportedly has planned.
According to The Information, Amazon is creating AI -powered humanoid robots to deliver its packages straight to your door.
The site says the tech giant is building an indoor obstacle course in San Francisco where it'll train these delivery droids to jump out of a van and carry boxes where they need to go.
In 2020, Amazon bought robo taxi company Zucs, which the Verge reports suggests that the company is working toward fully autonomous package delivery from warehouse to welcome Matt.
Setting box office records is one thing, setting a Guinness World Record is another and Tom Cruise has now done both.
The actor notched the world record by jumping out of a helicopter with a burning parachute a total of 16 times over Drakensberg, South Africa, while filming his new movie, Mission Impossible, The Final Reckoning.
Apparently flaming jumps count and Mr. Cruise has done more than anyone.
As the editor in chief of Guinness said in a statement, a large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do.
It's an honor to be able to recognize his utter fearlessness.
In today's Kid News Sports Notes, the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers returned to the ice tonight for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
They're tied at one game apiece after the Panthers took Game 2 in double overtime.
At the French Open, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz made a historic comeback in five sets yesterday to beat Yannick Sinner for the title.
At five hours and 29 minutes, it was also the longest ever French Open final.
On the women's side, Coco Gauff took down World No. 1 Arina Sabalenka on Saturday.
Coco is the first American to win that tournament since Serena Williams in 2015.
And it was horseracing déjà vu at the Belmont Stakes after sovereignty Outran journalism, again.
Sovereignty also beat journalism at the Kentucky Derby, but sat out the Preakness.
Had he run, the Horsin community may have had a Triple Crown champion.
Still to come... A reason to be careful about what you brag about!
But first, the Pillsbury's of Washington, D .C.
want to say Happy Birthday to Harrison who loves swimming, soccer, acting and ballet!
Happy Upcoming Birthday to Ford who plays hockey and lacrosse!
And congratulations to you both for an amazing school year!
And Mom and Dad wish you the best of luck finding the wall and back of the net in your upcoming swim meets and lacrosse tournaments.

In today's Kid News Kicker, could you run a marathon with zero training and only 24 hours notice?
Logan Todd of San Diego repeatedly bragged he could, so his wife decided to make him prove it.
Without his knowledge, she signed him up for the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego.
The morning before the race, in late May, she woke him up with the news.
You're running 26 .2 miles tomorrow.
Being woken up at 6 am on a Saturday with a surprise didn't feel good, Logan told SWNS, but it was also exciting because I talk a big game, and it was time to put my money where my mouth was.
He did that and more by shattering his goal of 7 hours, with a time of 5 hours, 58 minutes.
Wife Maisie says people find it hard to believe their story, but her not -all -that -athletic husband most certainly did what he set out to do.
Some of the proof popped up the next day when Logan admitted everything hurt.
Thanks again to the Pillsbury family of Washington, DC, for sponsoring today's quiz.
