The price of a Barbie may soon be as steep as her high heels.
Toymaker Mattel says it plans to raise prices on its products to offset the tariffs or taxes President Trump announced last month.
The company did not say which toys would be more expensive, but its products include not only the iconic Barbie and Ken dolls, but also toys like Hot Wheels, UNO, Thomas and Friends, Masters of the Universe, and American Dolls.
According to CNBC, more than 80 percent of all toys sold in the US are made in China, which was hit with the highest tariffs.
Mattel also sources goods from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Countries also hit with tariffs, but lower ones.
A stated goal of the tariffs was to encourage companies to start manufacturing their products in the US.
But when asked if Mattel plans to do that, the company's CEO said, we don't see that happening.
