I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, and we begin with an eight -legged stowaway causing pain at baggage claim.
A traveler reaching for her luggage on a carousel at Boston's Logan Airport Sunday night was stung by a scorpion.
Police say it's unclear what kind of scorpion it was and wouldn't tell WCVB whether they caught it or if it's still crawling around Terminal E.
Also unknown how it got to Boston in the first place.
The unidentified victim was returning from a trip to Mexico, and it's possible the icky arachnid hitched a ride from there.
There are 2 ,500 species of scorpions and they live on every continent except Antarctica.
In the U .S., most are in the desert southwest.
And while their stings can cause intense pain, the CDC says they rarely result in serious injury.
Most only require medical attention for pain management and wound care, including a potential tetanus shot.
The unlucky traveler was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Spring is less than three weeks away, but tell that to Mother Nature.
A massive winter storm is marching across the nation's midsection, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands and making a general mess of travel.
Yesterday, snow pounded the Plains states while Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Louisiana dealt with high winds and rain.
New Orleans even had to move the start time of its Fat Tuesday parades, change routes, and ban floats and bands for safety.
Today, the wicked weather is in the east and stretches from New Jersey to Florida.
At least 13 states and more than 170 million people are in the crosshairs.
On the positive side, the wet weather may help quell the wildfires burning in Georgia and the Carolinas.
Great news from high up in a tree in Big Bear Valley, California, where Eagles, Jackie, and Shadow are now proud parents.
Two of their three eggs hatched yesterday, with one more still a possibility in the next few days.
Because of not so great weather, the fluffy eaglets have to stay under Jackie with the remaining egg until the sky is clear or the chicks get their waterproof feathers.
In the meantime, Jackie and Shadow are in for non -stop feedings.
According to a park official, the eaglets eat a lot and grow very quickly.
It only takes 10 to 14 weeks before they go from tiny little chicks to eagles more than three feet tall.
Starships do -over might get done today.
SpaceX was hoping to launch the rocket that will one day carry astronauts to Mars Monday night, but mission control in Texas scrubbed it at T -40 seconds.
Without going into specifics, Elon Musk posted that there were just too many questions about this flight.
That eighth -planned test was essentially a makeup for the seventh, when the upper stage exploded shortly after takeoff, raining space debris onto the island of Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean.
Now, the earliest SpaceX will try again is 6 .30 Eastern time tonight.

In today's Kid News Sports Notes, an impressive run for singer Harry Styles.
The former One Direction member and current solo artist ran the Tokyo Marathon Sunday alongside more than 37 ,000 others.
He finished the 26 .2 -mile course in 3 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds.
Good enough for 6 ,010th place, according to the Tokyo Marathon's official site.
He held an average pace of 7 minutes and 47 seconds per mile, according to Runner's World.
Warrior's great Steph Curry is done with dunking.
Over the weekend against the 76ers, he skipped an easy layup and instead went for a one -hand slam.
It was his first in six years and apparently his last.
After the game, that 37 -year -old point guard told reporters, I'm calling it right now.
That was the last one you'll ever see.
It took everything out of me to get up there.
We're also seeing the last of Jimmy Johnson.
The one -time coach of the Miami Dolphins and longtime broadcaster announced Monday that he's hanging up his microphone after 31 years analyzing football games for Fox.
Jimmy Johnson is 81.

Harry Styles In today's Kid News Kicker, he may not have won Best Actor Oscar, as many thought he would, but Timothee Chalamet was always destined for greatness.
The proof is in his middle school yearbook.
In eighth grade, the New York City native was voted most likely to become famous by his class at MS -54 on West 107th Street.
Timothee went on to attend LaGuardia High School, also known as the Fame School, where he won the Drama Award before attending Columbia University and NYU.
