Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions. you and me every day.
Come on, let's master English. Hey everybody, welcome back.
Today's expression is brought to you by DDM.
And today's expression is in a jiffy. In a jiffy.
J-I-F-F-Y. to be in a jiffy. This expression means that something was done quickly.
Quickly. So the idea for the word jiffy is quickly.
So, I'll call you in a jiffy. That means I'll call you quickly, very soon, within a couple of minutes.
I'll be back in a jiffy. I'll be back in a minute I'll be back quickly I'm going to go to the bathroom and then I'll be back.
This lesson will be done in a jiffy. This lesson will be finished very quickly.
This is a useful expression. Let's check out a dialogue.
Hi, are my copies done? Not yet. Check back in a jiffy.
Alright, I'll go get a latte and come back.
They'll be done for you. Okay, so we can imagine that this man... went to get some photocopies he needed something copied and he asked the person who worked there, are they finished?
Are they done? And the person says, not yet.
Check back in a jiffy. Check back in a minute.
Check back in a few minutes. They'll be done soon.
The guy says, all right, I'll do that. For now, I'll go get...
I'll go and buy a latte. Who drinks latte?
I prefer a caramel macchiato. Mmm. A latte is a type of coffee.
A caramel macchiato is my favorite type of coffee.
What's your favorite type of coffee? Anyway, the guy says, I'll go get a latte and come back.
And the person who works there says, they will be done for you.
They'll be done for you. So check back in a jiffy.
Check back in a minute. Check back in a few minutes.
In a jiffy is a great expression. And well, basically the lesson is done.
I told you we would finish in a jiffy. Let's listen two more times.

Okay, we got eight new ratings. And I finally got some low ratings.
One guy gave me two stars. I don't know where he's from that's okay I understand my podcast is not for everybody And another guy – and I know this guy is from – ah.
Taiwan and Russia. That's where I got the low ratings.
Three stars. And I understand. But... If you give me – well, three stars is great.
I appreciate that. But two stars? Tell me why.
What was wrong? Maybe I can change something.
Maybe not, but I did get six five-star ratings and three comments.
And once again, All of the ratings mean so much.
So the first rating comes from Brazil. Obrigado to Overload Man.
Awesome. Another Coach Shane's work to help us.
You bet. We've got lots of projects and it's all to help you.
I've got another one from Canada. Oh, Canada.

You're great, Coach Shane. If I have time, I'll join your easy daily dictation.
It will come. Sometime. I hope. B-R, and then it's J-A-G-I.
So is it joggy? Jaggy? Oh, I'm so sorry.
I'm sure I mispronounced. Your name and I sincerely apologize for that.
But I thank you so much for the fantastic rating.
So once again, everybody, if you leave a rating in iTunes or if you leave a comment in in iTunes.
