📋 Summary

Navigating the Intersection of Faith and Success

The podcast host emphasizes that his definition of success has undergone a profound transformation, moving away from purely metric-driven goals toward a foundation rooted in faith. Reflecting on his upbringing in Pennsylvania, he notes that faith was once just a "religion" or a weekly practice. However, the passing of his mother in 2019 served as a "spark" for a deeper, more intentional relationship with God. He now views his platform as a gift to be used for something "larger and greater" than fitness documentation. Citing Galatians, he stresses that his work is not intended to "win the approval of human beings" but to serve as a "servant of Christ." This spiritual foundation now guides his role as a father, husband, and entrepreneur, prioritizing character and core values over external validation.

Fitness Philosophy: Data, Discipline, and Longevity

Transitioning to his Ironman Arizona preparations, the host shares his approach to health and performance. He warns that "too much data can become dangerous," noting that he avoids becoming "all consumed" by devices like the WHOOP strap. Instead, he monitors heart rate, resting heart rate (currently 39 bpm), heart rate variability (HRV), and Training Stress Score (TSS) to identify trends rather than day-to-day fluctuations.

To remain injury-free, he advocates for an "in-season vs. off-season" approach, comparing himself to professional athletes. By slowly building volume and intensity—and avoiding the trap of being a "race junkie"—he ensures his body can recover. He also highlights the importance of creatine monohydrate, specifically Creapure, calling it one of the most "safe, studied, and pure" supplements available, which supports both muscle performance and cognitive health.

Business Branding and Operational Evolution

Addressing his business, BPN, the host admits that his early branding approach was "bare bones." If he were to start over, he would be far more proactive by establishing a clear vision, defining a niche target market, and investing in an in-house brand team rather than outsourcing. He emphasizes the necessity of having a "visionary" in the business—a concept detailed in the book Rocket Fuel—to ensure the organization maintains its mission. Regarding new product launches, he explains that the upcoming G1M Sport Ready-To-Drink (RTD) beverage will launch exclusively on Amazon in late August to maintain a "deliberate, strategic" distribution model, mitigating the risks associated with retail expansion.

Redefining Winning and Maintaining Balance

When asked about common misconceptions, the host clarifies that he does not "train all day, every day." His intensity is seasonal; outside of prep cycles, he is flexible with his diet and routine. He also addresses his consumption of alcohol, noting that he drinks in moderation but avoids it entirely during high-intensity training blocks.

Ultimately, the host redefines "winning" as a reflection of his maturity. He no longer fears becoming "irrelevant" or obsessing over metrics like subscribers or financial growth. Instead, he judges his success by asking: "Am I leading my family? Am I serving God? Am I positioning myself as a role model?" By shifting his focus from external comparison—which he calls the "thief of joy"—to internal growth and spiritual alignment, he has found a more sustainable and meaningful path to professional and personal fulfillment.

📖 Transcript

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Today's episode is a question and answer that I opened up on my Instagram last week, and there were a bunch of good questions that came in, but I have a handful that I have somewhat consolidated based off of general questions and similarities, some fun stuff, some fitness stuff, some family stuff, some personal stuff, some business stuff, covering a bunch of different topics.
But a few things prior to getting into this that I want to share.
First off, we just kicked off as of today, week four of Ironman prep.
So we've been putting out one episode on YouTube.
That is a plan. Every Monday, 9 a .m. Central Standard Time, we will be releasing a new episode of the Ironman Prep Series leading into Ironman Arizona, November 16th.
So today kicks off week four of training.
