I don't know what it is, but anyway, that's all it is.
Your name and your email address, and we will send you a free lesson.
Okay.
So do that.
Let's master English.com.
All right, today's expression, it's actually a suffix.
Suffix is something that we add to the end of a word.
And the suffix is ish.
For example, green-ish or dark-ish.
Or five-ish.
Check out the dialogue.
I'm hungry.
You just ate.
I'm hungry-ish.
So, some nuts?
Cake and ice cream.
Yeah, that's me, usually.
Well, late at night.
Cake and ice cream.
You know, why after midnight, why do cake and ice cream taste so delicious?
I don't know why.
It's some mystery.
OK, so the dialogue, I'm hungry.
The lady says, you just ate.
How can you be hungry again?
You already ate.
And the guy says, well, I'm hungry ish.
So the lady says, so some nuts?
Hungry-ish means kind of hungry.
Not exactly hungry, but kind of hungry.
A little hungry.
So if you're a little hungry, maybe some nuts, N-U-T-S.
That would be perfect, right?
But the guy says, no, no, no, cake and ice cream.
Green-ish.
What color are your eyes, Coach Shane?
Ah, they're green-ish.
They're not exactly green.
My eye color is hazel, H-A-Z-E-L.
It's kind of a weird color.
But it sometimes looks green.
Sometimes it looks blue.
But typically green.
So greenish.
It's kind of green.
Darkish.
Oh, let's go ride a bike outside.
Right now, it's kind of darkish.
I mean, it's not nighttime, but it's not daytime.
It's kind of darkish outside.
Riding a bicycle might be dangerous.
Let's meet at five ish.
Let's meet around five, you know, maybe four 50, four 55, five, five, 10, five 15 around there.
Five ish.
How old do you think coach Shane is?
By listening to his voice, I'll guess 30-ish.
Good guess.
Wow, good guess.
But by looking at his face, I'll guess 70-ish.
What?
70-ish?
Are you kidding?
Are you crazy?
It's ridiculous.
20-ish.
I wish.
Maybe not.
Because when you're 20, you don't know anything.
I'm sorry.
If you're 20 and you think you know everything, trust me.
When you get older, you'll remember yourself at 20 and you'll laugh.
Usually.
Not always.
Me, I'm laughing.
Yeah, for sure.
All right, so ish, you can add it to the end of a word, and it means kind of about sort of a little.
It's so common in daily English.
It is really common.
You can hear it all the time.
The best place to hear it is in my class.
Because I'll make you hear it.
I'll point it out so that you really learn it.
So earlier I told you about our free lessons.
