Today's expression is T-A-N-G-Y.
Just a word, an adjective, how do you pronounce that word T-A-N-G-Y?
The pronunciation is tangy.
Tangy. T-A-N-G-Y. The pronunciation tangy, that's a long A, a nice N-G-Y, they're tangy.
What does tangy mean? It's actually a taste or even a smell.
It's a flavor or something that you smell and it's pleasant.
It's not pleasant like a flower, okay?
It's not, you know, if you smell a flower, that's very pleasant, very nice.
It's a different type of pleasant.
It's strong. It's similar to sour, SOUR, but if you smell something and it's sour, it's no good.
You know it's bad, okay?
But tangy has a very strong smell like sour, but it's actually good.
And the easiest example of something that smells or tastes tangy would be an orange, a citrus fruit.
So sometimes in your desserts, there's a tangy flavor or in your drink, there's a tangy flavor.
Or maybe you're burning a candle and it has a tangy scent to it.
Basically there's a little bit of citrus, maybe orange or lemon, something like that, check out the dialogue.
Oh, this is tangy. What's in it?
It's not lemon, sugar, spices.
Wow, it's a bit powerful.
Most minced meat pies are.
Mints meat pies, my goodness.
Yeah. Do you know what a pie, like when we say pie, P-I-E, most Americans think of an apple pie.
But another type of pie is a more popular in the UK than America, but we have them in America, minced meat pies, M-I-N-C-E-M-E-A-T, minced meat pies.
They're popular in the UK and Ireland and in parts of the United States.
My grandmother used to make them and I do not like minced meat pies.
If you've never had one, I would not recommend it simply because I don't like it.
I think my wife actually does.
I don't know. She's different than me.
Yeah, you can look it up online, minced meat pies.
One of the reasons I don't like minced meat pies is because of the tangy flavor.
When I'm eating an apple pie, I want to taste the sweetness.
I want to taste the apples and the sugars and the breads, you know, the pie crust.
This is what I want to taste.
Maybe some ice cream. And tangy does not go with an apple pie.
It's wrong. It doesn't fit.
So as soon as I take a bite of a pie and if I sense that it's tangy, I don't like it.
I don't want that. No. A tangy drink, a tangy tea or a tangy soda.
That's good. A tangy cookie?
No. I don't want to have a tangy cookie.
Some people do. Some people like tangy cookies.
Even a tangy candle doesn't sound that good to me.
But I love an orange. You know, if you peel an orange and you break open an orange and that scent comes to your nose, I love that smell.
That is a tangy smell and I love that smell, but not as a candle.
No. Tangy. What about you?
Do you like tangy smells?
Do you like tangy flavors?
Yeah. What's your favorite tangy food?
Something with orange or lemon or something like that in it.
Do you have any candles or anything that smells a bit tangy?
That's today's expression.
Everybody, it's a great adjective, especially now that I have a cold.
Everybody says, you know, you should have some lemon and cinnamon and, you know, garlic and stuff like that.
So I should probably have something tangy to help me overcome my cold.
