Start mastering English.
Okay, today's lesson is great because not only do we learn an expression,
we're going to really hear some great pronunciation stuff too.
Okay, so the expression is to do on someone, to do down.
Do down.
Do you know, do down?
Can you spell it?
Do down.
To do, of course.
Doat D O T E.
D O T E on O N to doat on me, to doat on her, to doat on someone.
This means to be really, really, really, really nice to someone.
If a parent doats on you, then you are probably the special child, the star child.
If the teacher doats on you, then you are the teacher's pet.
You're the favorite student of the teacher.
So I know men out there, men, especially husbands, do you doat on your wife?
If we say it fast, doat on, doat on, and sounds like a D, right?
Doat on.
Do you doat on your wife?
Ladies, do you doat on your husband?
You better.
That's right.
If you have a husband, you should doat on him.
Of course, men too, if you have a wife, you should doat on her.
She should be your number one.
He should be your number one.
You should be extra special to that person.
You chose the person.
So be responsible, right?
But going back to parents, you know, I'm a dad, right?
I've got two boys right now.
I've got Jimmy and Mikey.
Mikey is my older boy.
Jimmy is my younger boy.
I didn't choose them.
They just came, right?
I mean, God just gave them to me and boom, boom, I have two boys.
But let me be honest, there's no question.
My favorite son is Mikey.
I mean, my favorite son is Jimmy.
No, we can't say that.
That's terrible to say that.
If I doated on Mikey more than Jimmy, then Jimmy's going to be angry.
And if I doat on Jimmy more than Mikey, then Mikey's going to be angry.
When we have children, it's really difficult.
We have to dope on them the same.
But then we don't really use the expression dope on because to dope on someone means to
be extra special to that one person compared to any other person, you are extra special.
That's the idea of to dope on someone, okay?
So when it comes to English coaches, who are you going to do it on?
That's right.
Coaching, right?
Absolutely.
All right.
Now, so I think we understand the expression dope on.
However, I want you to listen carefully to this dialogue because in the dialogue, you're
going to hear some pretty crazy pronunciation.
This is something we really master in DTM and Perf, but I want you to listen carefully
and make sure you can catch all the words.
Are you ready?
All right.
Here we go.
Don, never doats on me.
Don was never doated on Don.
Don's parents are very doating.
They don't on their daughter Don, don.
They don't dood on Don, Don.
What?
I told you, yeah, pronunciation was going to be a problem.
So let's go over each line.
The woman says Don never doats on me.
Don never treats me special, right?
Don never.
So evidently, this woman's boyfriend or husband is named Don, D-O-N.
Don, that's a guy's name.
Don.
Never doats on me.
And the guy says Don was never doated on Don.
So the woman's name is Don, D-A-W-N.
The guy's her boyfriend's name is Don.
So the girl's name is what?
Don.
The guy, her boyfriend's name is Don.
So the man explains Don was never doated on.
In other words, he doesn't do it on you because probably his parents never doated on him.
So he doesn't have this experience really of treating another person special.
And this is a real situation.
If your parents never treated you special, then it actually becomes difficult later on
to treat someone else special.
It can be that way.
And that's what he's saying.
So the woman says Don never doats on me.
And the guy says Well, Don was never doated on Don.
The woman says Don's parents are very doating.
But Don's parents are very nice.
They treat their children so well.
They're very so nice.
They're so nice.
And the guy says They don't on.
And if we say it fast, they don't on Don.
They don't on their daughter.
Don.
So Don D.O.N. has a sister named Don.
And the parents are very doating to Don.
But not Don.
And Don's girlfriend is Don.
Oh my God.
So now we have Don whose girlfriend is Don.
And Don's sister is Don.
Don is the daughter.
Yeah, even I'm confused.
Don is the son.
Don is the son.
Don is the daughter.
And Don is Don's girlfriend.
Does that make sense?
So the guy says They don't on their daughter.
Don.
Don.
They don't.
Don.
Don.
Don.
Don.
So the parents have two children, right?
You understand.
I'm explaining one more time.
The parents have two children.
They have Don and Don.
Don is the son.
Don is the daughter.
And the parents don't on Don.
But they don't.
Don.
Don.
Okay.
And Don is complaining because Don never don'ts on Don.
Her.
She wants Don to do it on her.
But Don doesn't do it on her.
And the reason Don doesn't do it on her is because he was never do it on by his parents.
His parents are very do-ding, but they're only do-ding to their daughter, Don.
Not Don.
That's why Don is not very do-ding to Don.
I know.
It's confusing.
Oh, well.
Say, Lovey, you have to come back for the next podcast.
I mean, not that I'm going to explain anymore, but this is a great podcast regarding pronunciation
and an expression.
This is something you can master if you join my lessons.
So I expect to see you there.
Thank you very much.
We're going to listen to the dialogue twice more.
And together, let's master English.
Don never don'ts on me.
Don was never do-ding, Don.
Don's parents are very do-ding.
They don't on their daughter, Don, Don.
They don't do-ding, Don, Don.
Don never don'ts on me.
Don was never do-ding, Don.
Don's parents are very do-ding.
They don't on their daughter, Don, Don.
They don't don't, Don, Don.
