Hello, everybody, welcome back to Tilly Easy English Expressions.
The only podcast you need to listen to every day.
Yeah, sorry. current time on August 2nd 2017 705 in the morning north of Chicago humidity 67 percent temperature 52 degrees Fahrenheit 11 degrees Celsius it's gonna be a nice day it's gonna be a nice nice day outside today on my schedule This is a week in review.
So my schedule is not too bad.
I will be doing EVC EVC is everyone's vocab challenge, it's a vocabulary challenge that my DDM VIP students have also in my yard from the storm which was 11 days ago there is still a tree that that blew over in the yard and the landlord has not cleaned up the tree so today I will be trying to clean up the tree get a saw and cut away lots of work to do outside and then this evening at 6 p .m.
Chicago time 4 p .m.
LA time I will have a week in review class where all of my students from all around the world if they're Wake.
If they have time, they can join me and ask questions about anything.
So that's my date today.
It doesn't sound too bad, right?
Okay, anyway, today's expression is really nice.
Listen carefully. A big plus.
A big plus, ah! The letter A, ah, big, b -i -g -p -l -u -s plus, a big plus.
You know plus like one plus one equals two two plus three equals five plus okay that symbol it's like a tee but not a tee you know it's like an X but on its side something like that right okay so a big plus so the way we use this expression is like this whoo that's Big plus Coach Shane used to drink his coffee from Starbucks Which was about six dollars for every coffee including tax Now coach Shane makes his coffee at home that's a big plus because I can save a lot of money and I still make the same kind of coffee.
So Drinking coffee at Starbucks is convenient.
It's nice. It tastes good, but it's expensive.
I'm not sure of the ingredients.
Starbucks is far, far away from my house.
Now I make my coffee at home and that's a big plus.
A big plus. Actually there are several pluses.
There are several benefits.
Well, number one, I make the coffee, so I know about the beans.
I know about the milk, and I actually make the sugar, the caramel.
So I know how I made the caramel.
That's it. So it's very healthy.
I mean, since I make it, I know what is in there.
I know how much milk, how much sugar, how much caffeine, so that's a big plus.
Also, I can have coffee whenever I want.
So right now, I've got a huge coffee in front of me.
That's a big plus. And another big plus is it's cheaper.
So I can actually buy really good coffee beans and make my own coffee and still it's cheaper than going to Starbucks every day and getting a coffee there.
Every day at a Starbucks, I'm not joking every day, seven days a week, that's $42 a week, which is $160 a month.
And then sometimes I get two coffees a day.
So that's about $200 a month on coffee.
Isn't that crazy? $200 a month, American money, I know.
$200 a month on coffee.
And now, because I make my coffee at home, I guarantee my cost is less than half, at least at the most $100.
And it's not even $100.
I'll bet my coffee cost is maybe $60.
I'm guessing $60 a month at this point.
and yeah, and I can have as much as I want.
So, there are many pluses to making coffee at home.
A big plus is I save money.
Check out the dialogue.
