Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Daily Easy English Expressions.
the podcast and it is a good one.
To pick someone's brain, to pick someone's brain, P -I -C -K.
What does it mean to pick?
Well, sometimes to pick means to choose or to select.
But in this case, it's different.
When we say to pick, Think of a toothpick.
Do you know what a toothpick is?
T -O -O -T -H -P -I -C -K. Yeah, it's that little tiny piece of wood or plastic.
You know, if you eat some meat and then after you eat the meat, sometimes a little piece of the meat is between your teeth so you need to take a toothpick and get it out of your teeth.
Children, of course not adults, like to pick their teeth with their fingers and then they pick their ears and then they pick their nose.
Well yeah that's the idea of Pick.
And that's the idea here.
To pick someone's brain means to go over to somebody and pick at their brain.
