Following a devastating encounter with the "powerful wind magic" unleashed by the Yellow Wind Demon, Sun Wukong finds himself at a critical juncture. His companion, Bajie, is discouraged and exhausted, but Wukong remains focused on the urgent task: "We have to save the Tang Monk before the Demon King eats him." This narrative details the tactical brilliance and divine intervention required to overcome the formidable supernatural threat posed by the Yellow Wind Demon.
Recognizing that a direct frontal assault against the "too powerful" wind was futile, Wukong opts for a stealthy approach. He transforms into a "mosquito" to "sneak into the cave," successfully locating the Tang Monk held captive in a "dark room." Upon finding his master, Wukong provides reassurance, promising that the monk will be "free soon." However, the monkey recognizes that his primary obstacle is the demon's ability to manipulate the elements. While eavesdropping in the "throne room," Wukong overhears the demon boasting that "only the Bodhisattva Lingji can stop my wind magic." This piece of intelligence becomes the cornerstone of Wukong's winning strategy.
Understanding the limitations of his own powers against such specific magical threats, Wukong acts with urgency. He "leaped onto a cloud and raced through the sky" to reach Mount Sumeru. Upon arriving, he encounters Bodhisattva Lingji, who reveals the true nature of the antagonist: "He's a weasel spirit." Lingji explains his historical connection to the creature, admitting, "Buddha asked me to keep an eye on him," and expressing disappointment that the spirit is "not behaving anymore." With the stakes raised by the impending "feast" where the demons intend to consume the Tang Monk, Lingji agrees to intervene, arming himself with a staff and a "small object" concealed in his robe.
Returning to the demon's lair, the duo executes a coordinated trap. Wukong provokes the demon by using his "iron bar" to reduce the cave door to a "pile of rubble." When the Yellow Wind Demon emerges, he attempts to summon his signature gale, but his efforts are thwarted by Lingji’s "wind-stopping pearl." Deprived of his magic, the demon is left vulnerable. Lingji unleashes his staff, which transforms into a "golden dragon" to subdue the enemy. The creature is revealed to be a "yellow weasel," which Lingji secures to deliver to Buddha for judgment.
The mission concludes with Wukong returning to the cave to "chase away the other demons" and finally untying the Tang Monk. The story ends on a characteristic note of levity and discipline, as Wukong discovers Bajie sleeping and promptly shouts, "Wake up, lazy." Through a combination of reconnaissance, humility in seeking help from higher powers, and decisive action, Wukong successfully navigates a near-impossible situation, ensuring the safety of his master and the neutralization of a dangerous foe.
