Hey, it's Reading with Rella B. I just have one question.
Are you ready?
Are you ready to come along with me?
Are you ready to imagine with Rella B?
Hi friends, it's Rella B. I'm so excited you came back to read with me.
And if you're new here, welcome.
Today we're gonna be reading a super fun story, but before we get into the story time, let's go ahead and find out what we're gonna be reading about.
And we're gonna do that with a fun riddle.
So I'm gonna give you three hints and then you're gonna guess.
Ready?
Okay.
Hint number one, I bounce up and down.
Hint number two, you can roll me all around.
And hint number three, I am in the shape of a sphere.
But if you drew me and I was flat, I'd be a circle.
Do you know what I am?
I'll give you a few seconds to guess.
Good job!
If you guessed a ball, then you would be correct.
And the reason that our riddle was a ball today is because we're going to read a really fun story, but it's not exactly about a ball, but something kind of similar and more fluffy.
So let's go ahead and welcome out our author friend that's going to be reading with us today.
Oh, my goodness friends, I don't know about you, but I love to have adventures and sometimes I just get so excited that I forget that there was rules that were told to me.
And I know it's really, really important to follow the rules, Because if we don't, bad things could possibly happen, and that's not what we want.
But we have to remember that even when we get excited, we still have to follow rules.
So today we're actually going to have an author that shares an amazing story with us about following rules and being on a fun adventure as well.
So let's go ahead and welcome her.
This is Miss Roxy.
Hi, Miss Roxy.
How are you?
I'm good, thank you.
How are you?
I am so great and we are so excited to hear more about your book.
We would love to know what is it called and what do the main characters look like?
The name of the book is Ali's Big Adventure.
He's a puffball.
He's bright yellow, has two legs, no arms.
He's soft and rubbery and he bounces.
Micah is a northern tribe boy who finds Allie after he gets lost. and decides to help him.
And then there's Scout, a golden pony who likes to talk and speak his mind.
Oh my goodness.
Scout sounds like my absolute favorite being a pony.
I think we're ready to go ahead and get started with the story.
All right.
This is Allie's Big Adventure.
Allie is a puffball.
Puffballs are soft, rubbery creatures that live in a hidden valley near the southern cliffs.
They like to bounce.
One day, Allie tried to catch a dragonfly.
His parents told him many times, Don't bounce alone.
You're too little to control your bounce.
But today, Allie forgot.
When he jumped after the dragonfly, Allie bounced.
It was an incredibly big bounce.
That lasted a very, very long time.
When Allie finally came to a stop, he looked around for a path home.
He quickly discovered he was lost.
Allie sat down to think, but he was so tired from bouncing, he fell asleep.
Hello, a voice said, surprising the puffball.
Hello, Allie answered timidly, blinking at the human.
I'm Micah, the youth said as he sat down beside the puffball.
I'm Allie, the puffball sighed heavily.
How did you get here, Allie?
Micah asked.
Micah had heard stories about puffballs from his tribe.
He had seen drawings of them.
His family told him where he thought he lived, where the puffballs lived.
But he was very surprised to meet one.
Allie began to wail.
I tried to catch a dragonfly and bounced away from home.
Now I'm lost.
Big tears ran down his face.
Don't worry, Micah patted Allie's soft yellow head.
I'll help you.
It's a long walk to your home, and it's late.
Are you hungry?
Allie nodded, his tummy rumbling.
Micah led Allie to a small cave he liked to camp in.
I'll take you home in the morning, Micah said as they ate.
His tummy full, Allie fell asleep listening to tree frogs.
They reminded him of home.
The next day, Allie and Micah headed toward the puffball's home.
A short time later, they met a golden pony eating clover.
Micah introduced himself and Allie.
I'm Scout, the pony said.
I'm taking Allie to his home near the southern cliffs.
Would you like to come with us?
Micah asked.
Climb on my back and I'll carry you both there, Scout boasted.
Soon they entered the Valley of the Sun.
Everything was hot.
We're not far from the Sand Palace, Micah urged.
We can be there by lunch.
Scout sped up.
He was hungry.
Scout carried Micah. and Allie to the Sand Palace gate where they met a watchman.
My name is Gert.
His deep, rumbly voice made Allie giggle.
He led them to a room for their lunch.
He even had fresh hay and water for Scal.
After Gareth left, Allie noticed a big round couch across the room.
Squealing, he jumped on the couch and began to bounce.
Allie, stop!
You'll bounce out the window and get lost again!
Micah cried out.
Allie quickly stopped sliding off the couch.
He did not want to get lost again.
After the friends had eaten, Gareth came with some balloons that floated above his head.
He handed them to Micah.
These will shade all of you from the sun, Gareth smiled.
Thank you, Micah, Micah said, taking the magical balloons.
He quickly tied them around Scout's middle.
Saying goodbye to Gareth, the friends headed off.
Scout carried Micah and Allie out of the Valley of the Sun and began to climb up the southern cliffs.
When Scout finally came to the top of the southern cliffs, the friends came to a stop.
The bridge on the path was broken!
Allie cried.
How will I ever get home now?
Don't worry, little buddy, said Micah.
I'll think of something.
After pacing back and forth, Micah got an idea.
He quickly tied a balloon around Allie.
He tied two more around himself.
This will work.
Come on, Allie.
Come on, Scout.
With that, Micah jumped over the edge of the cleft.
Scout followed with Allie.
Micah and Scout landed safely a couple minutes later and pulled off their balloons.
A short time later, Allie landed.
Or almost landed.
When Allie dropped to the ground, he began to bounce.
Oh no, Micah cried, running after the puffball.
Come on, Scout.
We've got to catch Allie before he gets lost again.
When Micah got his arms around Allie, he tripped.
Allie shot out of his arms, bounced, then landed curse splash right in the middle of the stream.
Hmm, that was some bounce, exclaimed Scout.
Look, Micah pointed across the stream.
Allie squealed, jumping out of the water.
Ahead stood a great big giant tree.
It was filled with bright yellow puffballs.
Welcome home, Allie, they shouted and ran to meet him.
Allie's parents rested their heads against his, glad he was safe.
When Allie explained how Micah and Scout had helped him, his family rushed to thank them.
Soon it was time for Micah and Scout to go.
Allie smiled as his new friends started for home.
He hoped he would see Micah and Scout again someday.
The End Wow, that was such an incredible story.
It's so amazing that Scout and Micah helped Allie get home.
Sometimes it's so important for us to be kind to others because it can truly make their day and even save them if they're on an adventure.
Isn't that the truth?
And Allie certainly needed saving.
He certainly didn't know where he was after he bounced away from home.
Right, and I would love to know what made you think of a talking puffball for a main character?
Well, when I was 16 in high school...
I had a project in art and I had to come up with new characters to make a short story.
And it was all pictures because it was artwork with very little writing.
And I came up with this little puffball guy when I was trying to do a character development and I liked the sound of the puffball.
Somebody had gotten a puffball mushroom and I was fascinated with it.
So I decided to call my little character a puffball because he's soft and squishy too.
Oh, wow.
That is so funny.
And I have no idea what a puffball mushroom looks like, but it sounds very interesting.
Yes, they are.
Let's put it that way.
So we'll definitely have to look those up.
So I would love to know what advice do you have for us when we're trying to remember rules, even though we may be super excited about doing something.
Sometimes we pay the consequences if we really don't listen.
Allie really wanted to listen to his parents.
He always tried very hard to listen to what they said, but he did get excited and did get carried away.
And sometimes we have to just stop and think, OK, is this a good thing to do or not?
We have to kind of consider what's going to happen next.
So with Ali, he didn't really stop and think.
He just took off and he got very lost.
Okay.
So before we start doing something, we definitely need to take a moment and stop and think before we do that to make sure nothing bad happens.
Yes, it's very important.
And, as we saw with Allie, it took him so far away from home.
He would have never found it by himself because he's so young.
So when we run off from our parents or do something a little silly, like we're trying to hide and seek while mom and dad are at the store, it's best to stay with mom and dad, even if it's boring.
Right.
I definitely never want to get left in a story.
So I'd love to know what is next for Allie's Adventures.
Yes, I'm currently working on book two.
And it's going to be called Allie and the Ganderwot.
And it's basically about Allie trying to learn how to control his bounce because he wants to go visit Micah and Scout again.
But before he can, he has to know how to control his little bouncing.
Oh, okay.
That sounds super interesting.
And if we want to find your book and look at the beautiful illustrations, where do we go?
You can go to my website, which is roxyfeist.com.
You can go to Amazon and you can go to Barnes and Noble if you're looking for the book.
Wonderful.
Well, thank you so much for joining us today, Ms.
Roxy.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?
I would just like to say that my little brother's imagination was what triggered...
Micah's character, because he had an imaginary friend named Boy.
And at the beginning, my story was about Allie and Boy.
So when I decided I was going to have to get it published, I had to give Boy a name.
It's got him being Micah.
I love that because I definitely had a fish named fish.
So there you go.
The simpler the better evidently.
Right.
More memorable.
Well, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story with us today, Miss Roxy.
And I hope to see you next time with your next book.
Thank you.
I hope to see you too.
That would be great.
All right.
