Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
English expression with me, Coach Shane.
How you doing?
We have EQ number 437 today.
And today is a fantastic expression.
So with today's expression, I want to say thank you to my team.
I have a massive team that helped me produce this content. coach the students and manage everything.
We've got a massive team.
And I'm not going to mention names because there's over 30 people involved.
It's tremendous.
And then there's our mentors.
But the biggest thing of all, the most important thing of all, is you, the listeners, the students, the community members.
You guys inspire me to keep going.
So yeah, just a big thank you.
And today's expression is tied to that.
E cubed, number 437.
Let's go back in time.
Today, a very nice expression.
It's a very casual expression but you might hear it if you like.
I don't know music shows, awards shows, those you know, like the Oscars and the Grammys, those types of things.
You definitely will hear it.
Sometimes you'll hear it in interviews too.
It is Give props to.
I'd like to give props to.
Every time I use this expression, I want to sound like a rapper.
Not a candy rapper, a rap music rapper like Eminem, MC Hammer.
Give props to.
Today I'd like to give props to my mother.
Love you, Mom.
To give props to somebody means to give proper respect.
To somebody proper respect.
It is the shortened version of proper respect.
It means to say thank you to somebody, that you appreciate them, that you love them, that you respect them.
So if you're a religious person, you might want to say, first of all, I'd like to give props to God.
If you're a Christian, I'd like to give props to Jesus.
If you're a...
You know, whatever.
Just a regular person like me.
I'd like to give props to my mom.
I'd like to give props to you.
I'd like to share my proper respect and tell everybody about my respect to somebody.
So if you are ever interviewed, this would be an expression you might want to use.
Now me, once again, I'm an old guy.
I probably won't ever.
Use this expression.
Maybe I will.
Maybe I will never say never.
But once again, this is an expression that I hear on the radio when I'm listening to.
Some radio DJ interviews some singer and he'll say, well, you got some great songs.
Tell us about your songwriting.
Well, first of all, I got to give props to my songwriter, Brian.
So he's got a songwriter he's giving props to.
He's giving proper respect to.
That's the idea.
Check out the dialogue.
I really love your newsletter.
It's great, isn't it?
Yes, it looks so good.
It's easy to read.
It's perfect.
I gotta give props to Parmy.
He did it all.
We have the best newsletters.
We certainly do.
We haven't made one in a while, but we are going to make them available on our website pretty soon.
And once again, our newsletters are made by Parmi.
Parmi is my web bearer.
He's a genius.
I don't say thank you enough to Parmi, but Parmi, I'm giving props to you now.
You're all that, Parmi.
Thank you very much.
Now, what about you?
You're a good person, right?
You're successful in this and that.
You're smart.
You're good at English.
You're... a good investor, you're whatever.
You have great talent in running or some sort of talent.
You're a great cook.
Well, who taught you?
Who is behind your greatness?
Is there somebody you need to give props to?
Do you need to give props to your father for your amazing Superman strength?
I'm a good barbecuer.
I make great barbecues.
I grill.
I'm a professional.
And I've got to give props to my dad.
My dad taught me everything I know about barbecuing.
That's it, everybody.
Have a fantastic day.
Listen to the dialogue two more times.
